TPA3116D2 Amp

Hi xrk971,

here are two distorsion measurements.
Maybe I didn't produce good measurements, for me differences are not relevant.
Please try to find the YJ board :)

regards,

Christian

The sure tpa3110 is still my favourite. I tried a number of different speakers and even on B&W dm2a speakers it sounds very good. This speakers are often described as demanding a very strong and powerful amplifier. But to my ears they sound very good with this small amplifier. I wasn't expecting this so i report it here to see if others have the same experience.

I would not connect expensive speakers. They did withdraw this board with a reason ! Maybe investing some time in what the design error could be is advisable. Is is a thermal or electrical problem, what can break down, what are the differences with the known red and blue board etc.

I've had no problems whatsoever with the new board. It is hooked up to some cheap speakers, Pioneer BS22s that I either rattled off the shelf with high volume or the cats knocked over, so they are not very pretty anymore, not that they ever were!

The cats, as is often the case, have been silent on their potential involvement.

I will be interested in hearing evaluations from people who know more than me once the boards start arriving.

In my earlier post I'd noted that the board popped on start-up. It seems to have stopped popping, so I am happy on this count.

Well still being sold and delivered and positive feedback given on a daily basis on TAOBAO, so seems more a reseller with a problem to me. But who knows, at least the story from seller was not very convincing to me, shipping the 2 boards I had paid for or so he said, then telling me they were already in New Sealand, he could see when he tracked shipping, then he gave me tracking ID Chinapost that even today still doesn't work, ChinaPost mind you, I paid for DHL.... Then he was able to recall shipment already sent????? and cancel the order for which Aliexpress charges me $15 LOL

Well, I scrapped that idea. :D I had another small chassis that fit the board perfectly. It's too late (early) to really fire it up, so I'll post listening impressions later.
I received a blue 2.0 board recently, and may put that one in another tin I've saved -- Sprungli chocolate from Zurich. :yummy:

Will be waiting for your impressions and more pictures please! :D:p

I use the headphone outs from my CD player - there is volume control knob.

Perhaps, you should have ordered this amp instead:

http://http://www.yuan-jing.com/tpa3116-class-d-2-0-stereo-power-amplifier-50w-50w

Complete Yuan Jing TPA3116D2 2.0 "blue" amp with volume pot and power supply.

Not yet. Again, they did not withdraw this board without a reason. Most orders were cancelled and boards were not sent, something chinese comapnies don't do that often.

My sense of it was that the seller realized they were not going to make much of a profit at the $11.89 total (free shipping) they had been advertising. They never took them off the website. You can buy the same amp, but with $8 shipping, today.

Again, the speakers I am running are not all that important to me and I already plan to buy a new pair that are not as cosmetically challenged as mine are, so it is not much of an experiment.

The CD player I am using with it came from a garage sale and I doubt I have $10 in it...so either end of the system is expendable.

I also turn my equipment off when I am not around, so I am not too worried about anything happening.

So far, in terms of sound, I would have to give the nod to the blue YJ board, which is more transparent.

Just picked up the two 150W laptop bricks from my parents and am a little peeved with them... The box description is different to the e-bay sellers listing of 12V-20V @ 6A & 24V @ 5A... Box says '12V - 20V @ 6A and 24V @ 5A' still good... product label says 12V - 19V @ 5A & 20V/24V @ 4A... OK...

On opening the Alu case I find a 120W circuit board inside... would complain but they'll just tell me the extra Amp is for the 5V 1A USB output and not part of the main output :( ... Could have just bought the standard 120W units and saved £5.

Anyway... once I have the YJ 2.0 Blue Boards cased I can start thinking about building some OB speakers :)

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I think I may a figured it out..

Pardon my ignorance, why are there two sets of RCA sockets ? You only need one set (left and right inputs) for a stereo amp. The middle contacts from the pot should be connected to the amp inputs (left and right channels).

Regards,

So here's what I came up with for an enclosure, pieced together crap from goodwill...

The weird capacitor is an attempt to fix the popping on start-up which worked although it might not be ideal. If anyone has a better/more streamlined suggestion to this fix I'm all ears.

...and then last week I found an Acoustic Research ar4x speaker for sale for $25 at goodwill.....unfortunately some nob bought the other one before I got there according to the staff...but DAMN does this amp sound good through the ar4x....so pleasant to listen too. Excellent bass.

So now with the one ar4x I'm trying to figure out how to set up a red YJ board in a mono configuration. This is for the purpose of a building a Bluetooth type boombox using the ar4x with tpa3116 and APT-X Bluetooth 4.0 Audio Receiver Board

Anyone had any success with an easy conversion or should I seek out that Green mono board? Can't seem to find it for sale anymore. I would love to be able to have a stereo input with a mono output......maybe just using a y adapter to combine the left and right input is my solution but then I still need to figure out if the red board is worth messing with to make mono....

Here you have the tutorial to set YJ red board to PBTL mode
