O.K. Thanks. Will have to go dig into the Penasa article and try to understand the danger/difference.

It is not my decision.
It is not up for discussion.
The Forum already has the Rule banning discussion of direct to mains powering.
I had another sentence but deleted it.
Thanks Andrew. I feel silly for not having read far enough down the "Rules" page, or at least not carefully enough to see this,
"While most projects on this site deal with electricity and construction which inherently involve some risk, particularly dangerous topics and procedures should include a warning in the thread that adequately explains these risks. Certain inherently dangerous topics are not allowed. At this time they include but are not limited to: discussing power supplies directly fed by mains current without a transformer, and mucking about in CRT video monitors."
I am sure that the discussion by the fourm members on this subject included words like "liability" and I can respect that. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I, personally, would prefer some discussion of the topic, even if just to explain the dangers, but I can see where even this could be a problem legally for the forum. The really tricky problem is defining the limits. Enough said.
Guys is there a group buy available at the moment? Just built an audiosector and I got the bug. Disturbingly it's keeping up with my weston acoustics kt120 hooked to my ns1000m's

The last GB is over but I have extra boards. PM me if interested. See my signature for pricing and conditions.
Thanks Dario for the detailed explanation 🙂...another question comes to mind is the function of the zener limiter between the op-amp and the LM3886? Sorry for the trouble and best regards.

You're welcome.
The Zener limiter is directly related to higher PS rails for the LM318.
It's a safety measure to avoid triggering the Spike protection of the LM3886 (Penasa detemined that no more than 28V should arrive to the current pump)
New passive volume control for the FE😀
That is brilliant workmanship -stunning looking!
Singularly attractive enclosure. You are an inspired craftsman.
How does it sound?
Peace,

Thank you, it was fun project over the holidays. The sound is great. It is very different from the TKD that I was using previously. The difference in soundstage between the khozmo and the TKD is very obvious. The khozmo has more depth and width. With certain tracks the sweet spot has moved closer to the speakers, which for me is great because I have a smallish listening room. The channel separation is also vastly improved. I have been listening to a lot of jazz and the movement between instruments and musicians throughout the soundstage is much more dramatic. All in all it is very transparent and very well made.
An interesting note on the first listen with this attenuator. There was a very noticable change, or burn in with this component. My past experiences with burn in had been subtle, but this was very apparent. It took a good two hours and a variety of types of music before it "bloomed".

Actually Will, I don't like your little project at all.😛 It makes the last few things I've posted look rather amateurish😉.
Great attention to detail and "final fit and finish".

Which TKD are you referring to? 2CP-601 or 2CP-2511?
Audyn True Copper in the USA
I think Bob was responsible for this. Parts Express is now offering a full range of True Copper caps in the US. They are a bit pricey. A 1 uF TC is $46.15 for small quantities, but that is still less than buying them in Europe and paying the shipping cost.

Didn't do anything lately, but the person I spoke to a while back did say they would look at some of our threads/projects and review the possible inventory additions.
PE is exemplary in supporting all DIY activities and deserves our support when we can. If anyone is considering a new speaker build their project showcase is packed with great examples and information.
Thanks for the tip Jac 😉
