Wow! I can't believe that I haven't heard of this young monster of the conducting world.
I have a wonderful recording of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra playing Rach's Isle of the Dead. I'm extremely fond of the RCO, but I don't know who the conductor is... I think it's Ashkenazy.... but I don't remember.
Probaby its Ashkenazy, his account is also awesome (his Symphonic Dances I prefer) but as with 'Ralph' writing the Amazon review, its the Petrenko version of 'Isle' that sends the shivers down my spine. Truly chilling 🙂

Marvelous choral performance.
I haven't found a commercial recording.

I'm not normally a sucker for Baroque music, but when it's performed this well, I would be insane to not listen to it!
Im listening to Channel 550 - Rock hits 🙂

Schwarzkopf Sings Pamina in Der Zauberflote, von Karajan - on the PC, from 78s in '53. Quite a bit of 78 rotational bad patch "distortion" at the beginning, but they haven't tried to fix it - which is a good thing! Nice sense of air, depth - crescendos not too bad ...
Well worth listening to ...!
