Great Waveguide List

I have no measurements and have not tried the horns with drivers yet.
But i have a pair of P-Audio PH220 here and are a bit unshure if they are usable.
The castings seems to be a bit rough especially in the throat, there are even a ridge towards the flange on one side on both horns (looks almost like the hole in the flange are shifted a bit to one side.
How audible will such faults be?
Should i sell them and try to find a different horn suitable for use with 8" woofers, or should i try to use bodyfiller and reshape the throats for a better transition?

They was planned to be used with DE250 drivers, but if its a waste of a good driver too use the PH220 horns, i migth reconsider.

with the 700hz FS on the peerless, it may be do-able for a single cap crossing to a 6.5" or ideally smaller driver run wide open without any filtering.

I think we are starting to see more and more of the round waveguide with dome.
It may be the next "big thing".

I'm using the discontinued but not un-obtanium mcm round horn in my current project, but instead of a dome, I'm using a jbl 2407 compression driver.

Thought I'd add the H290C to this list:

It's not recent news anymore, since it was introduced last year. And it's based on another (wood) horn/waveguide I made in 2005. But it's still a relative newcomer, and I don't see it mentioned here so I'll add it to the list.

Nice find. Haven't seen them for sale anywhere yet...

Sweet and a good variety as well!

Unfortunately they don't seem to have european distribution (at least I couldn't find anything) which means that with duty, VAT and shipping they will cost 2 or 3x as much as the tweeters that fit them!

'spose it's the same with the ones I posted though but you got more choice.

How about harmonics?...

All,

Awesome thread and efforts.

IT would be interesting to see responses for the harmonics. Finding horn\driver combinations with nice on axis response, good controlled directivity plus a dominating 2nd harmonic would be helpful to chose the combo for best soundstage, tone and listenability.

I'm enjoying Wayne's horn with the DE250 and slightly different crossover than what Wayne recommends. Soundstage and imaging are the best I've heard in my room, low fatique, super dynamics.

Thanks again for the excellent thread!!

Shipping over seas hasn't been that bad. Roughly an extra $10- $16 for one set of guides. Since I include shipping in the cost of the guides in the States if you where to order two sets or more I can cover the extra shipping. This is using USPS so it can take up to a couple weeks to receive them. UPS or FedEx can cost an extra $20 -$40 dollars depending on where they are going.

I've been offering customer work as well. If you have a tweeter you would like a guide designed for all you need to do is send it to me and I'll see what I can work up. What I get out of it is another tweeter/ guide combo to add to my list without having to buy the tweeter. If you have a particular mid/ woofer in mind to cross to I can set the depth to match the acoustic center pretty closely. I can also make the guides outer shape rectangular, square, round, elliptical or about any outer shape you would like.
I can also make them satin black, gloss black, gloss white and clear. The clear guides can be painted on the front or back side pretty much any color you would like.

Hello Dave,
love your guides and your post makes them look even better but I love the possibility to have them custom-made for a particular drive!
Unfortunately shipping is the least of my worries there.

If a parcels contents is worth more than US$20 it attracts around 35% in duty and excise plus 20%VAT on the resulting total.

Regarding USPS: I once had subscription to a US magazine and due to prohibitive airmail cost I chose surface mail. Delivery took anything from a few days to over 8 weeks over the year the subscription lasted.

Despite all of this I'll keep your link because the WGs do look damn good!
In fact I think they are so interesting (at least to me) that if I were to know how to go on about it business-wise I'd offer to set up proper distribution for them.
