Been waiting all day for an update from BlueFusion, not surprised he hasn't popped in but it's still disappointing. Since we've heard nothing, I can only assume nothing's changed. If the parts haven't been shipped with tracking by tomorrow then he should hand them over to ddw (for those who've asked).

BlueFusion: I feel I've already paid for shipping but will still have to source the plug packs myself. The right thing to do is to refund them for everyone who's asked. You should have the money since the RS order never went though. Right?

This just leaves the panels, the status of which is unclear. Can you take a few minutes to give us some straight answers?

  • What is the current status of the front panels - i.e. how many have been completed, how many are pending?
  • When can you be sure they'll all be completed and mailed?
  • Have you paid your machinist buddy upfront with the group's money?
  • If there's going to be a significant delay on them (more than two weeks), will you offer refunds on the front panels too?

Refund for plug packs / No need for Express Postage

As expressed by others, forget about ordering plug packs (2 in my case) and express postage for me is pointless, so the best option is a refund on the plug packs and I will arrange my own.

BF you really need to keep us in the loop, the lack of news is not reassuring it only adds to the doubt everyone has.

Dontdiewondering your help in moving this matter forward has been much appreciated and I haven't ruled out you're offer to pickup my 2 kits minus the panels and plug packs. Just waiting on a progress report and anxious to see what happens in the next couple of days.

so what's the story now? BF can't even hand over the kits? I really don't get that. If you can't make it happen, let some else do it. This makes me think there is more story behind it. What have you actually ordered? and where is the rest of money?

Alright I'll do some more guessing again, we're getting lots of practice!

- BlueFusion has done something or nothing
- He logged on last night to tell us about something or nothing
- He saw that we asked about the cost of plugpacks and don't want to trade plugpacks for express post (seriously if we were in a big hurry we'd have gone somewhere else by now!)
- He worked out that 17.5 * 32 = $560 (even if he subtracts some amount for these adapter things, still it costs some $$$)
- He logged off again.

About right hey?

What else would we think?

I've also decided that I don't want to add a 2nd kit from your extras anymore. Can you refund cost of my plugpack instead of subtracting it from cost of extra parts or trading for the plugpack too please.

Since these no longer contain a heavy transformer, I'm going to see if I can get them in at 500g instead of 3kg. They will go out either from me or ddw most likely on Thursday.
The plugpacks weren't ordered since they didn't actually exist - thanks RS. Therefore I propose to all of you who paid for one an upgrade to express post (and a free overseas to australian power adaptor plug thing... since I now have a lot going spare).
For those with 2 (or for you Sqveak with 3) kits, all the parts have been bagged and sorted and only need to be bubble wrapped (with enclosure/batts/PCB) and will be also ready to ship.

Now - it seems there are less kits available than my spreadsheet indicated as I have exhausted the supply of parts and only have 3 left overs - which were purchased by willmax (1) and FREDtheDOG (2) and refunded. Therefore they get first preference if they wish to re-purchase a kit - otherwise they're up for grabs.

If neither want back in - I have 3 parts kits available. Tomorrow evening when I've packaged the rest of the orders I'll have figures on spare PCBs, batteries and enclosures.
I also have 2 spare resistor kits (and however many spare panels as enclosures).
I'll go through the thread and try to track down everybody who put their hand up for extra batteries - there are a lot of these, most of which aren't on my SS.

Odds and ends -
Mouser had a few fuckups in terms of parts and I guess it's my bad for not ordering a handful of spares, as I thought there was a kit or two spare anyway.
To be clear - none of these will affect any of you - I'll take the parts out of my own build and sort them out myself.
However. This is the parts status now that everything is bagged and sorted:
-3x 7912 -12v regulator
+3x 7812 +12v regulator
-1x Dual Comparator
+1x Dual Low Noise opamp
+2 male & female battery terminals
-4 0.22uF film capacitor
+7 0.022uF ceramic capacitor
+2 220pF C0G capacitor
+3 2.2uF WIMA Film capacitor
-1 1 ohm resistor
+5 1.5k resistors from fordgtlover
+~100 1.5k resistors (too large, replaced by fordgtlover)
-1 274 ohm resistor
+2 270K ohm resistor
+3 30v 1a schottky diode
+8 DIP8 socket

Interestingly the key parts that are missing (comparator and regulator) are mirrored with extras in in similar but fundamentally different parts.

Where to from here?
Tomorrow morning I'll be visiting auspost to see if I can mail 3kg satchels as 500g (or if I have to move your entire kits into different bags provided they're light enough).
Tomorrow evening I'll finish packaging the double kits - which will be far less likely to be under 500g, obviously.
Based on what I discover tomorrow morning, ddw and I will reach an agreement about shipping. Unless I hear otherwise everybody with a plugpack on their order will be upgraded to express (& shipped before 10am Thurs) - however the other satchels if shipped Thursday should still arrive Tuesday at the latest.

BF,

Every time that something was missing from an order at Mouser, I just mailed the list of missing things, and they were sent very quickly, at no cost.

BlueFusion you can't just assume that everybody want's express postage without posting to ask on this forum first.
The consensus is a refund on the plug packs and just regular postage.

As stated earlier, my postal address has changed and I won't be able to build the kits until February - no need for express postage.

dontdiewondering considering BF's reluctance to post and clarify whats going on, I much prefer that you pick up my two kits.

I've sent BF a message confirming that general consensus is that express postage is not a priority and that it would be good for him to post on here what his intentions are regarding the plugpack money.

He said he'll still get packages posted asap. He said he'll post on here asap since he's away from computer/internet at the moment. Not really sure of timeframes on either other than 'asap'.
