O2 amp Australian parts GB

The exact quote from BF was:
"Heard from RS-the wallwarts were actually discontinued. So I'll order others." to which I replied post before you do as most people would prefer to sort it out it for themself. I know that's a pretty big presumption on behalf of people I don't know but the feeling I get is everyone just wants their stuff as soon as possible with the least amount of issues.

Adelaide; good beer, good wine, good food, besides the odd random murder why would you want to live anywhere else??!!!

"Heard from RS-the wallwarts were actually discontinued. So I'll order others."

BlueFusion: Please don't.

Since you still haven't organized the plug packs I'd rather take care of them myself. Same for the panels really. At this point all I want from you is a refund for the stuff you never ordered. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Thanks for the effort you've put into this. It's clear you haven't had the time to execute this quickly, the best thing to do now is to get it off your plate.

OK - thanks to ddw for keeping you all updated while i've been working today.
To the skeptics - the only reason everything has now happened is that today is the first day I've had free in a very long time. That may not sound like much but I've been working 14+ hour days Mon-Sat in the theatre (for study, btw, not even getting paid) and then working my real job on Sunday to try get some money to pay for all my food during the week.

Anyway - the current situation AS I WRITE THIS is this.
Everybody who ordered ONE kit - they are packed & in postage satchels - all that needs doing is I purchase and print postage from clickandsend.
Since these no longer contain a heavy transformer, I'm going to see if I can get them in at 500g instead of 3kg. They will go out either from me or ddw most likely on Thursday.
The plugpacks weren't ordered since they didn't actually exist - thanks RS. Therefore I propose to all of you who paid for one an upgrade to express post (and a free overseas to australian power adaptor plug thing... since I now have a lot going spare).
For those with 2 (or for you Sqveak with 3) kits, all the parts have been bagged and sorted and only need to be bubble wrapped (with enclosure/batts/PCB) and will be also ready to ship.

Now - it seems there are less kits available than my spreadsheet indicated as I have exhausted the supply of parts and only have 3 left overs - which were purchased by willmax (1) and FREDtheDOG (2) and refunded. Therefore they get first preference if they wish to re-purchase a kit - otherwise they're up for grabs.

If neither want back in - I have 3 parts kits available. Tomorrow evening when I've packaged the rest of the orders I'll have figures on spare PCBs, batteries and enclosures.
I also have 2 spare resistor kits (and however many spare panels as enclosures).
I'll go through the thread and try to track down everybody who put their hand up for extra batteries - there are a lot of these, most of which aren't on my SS.

Odds and ends -
Mouser had a few fuckups in terms of parts and I guess it's my bad for not ordering a handful of spares, as I thought there was a kit or two spare anyway.
To be clear - none of these will affect any of you - I'll take the parts out of my own build and sort them out myself.
However. This is the parts status now that everything is bagged and sorted:
-3x 7912 -12v regulator
+3x 7812 +12v regulator
-1x Dual Comparator
+1x Dual Low Noise opamp
+2 male & female battery terminals
-4 0.22uF film capacitor
+7 0.022uF ceramic capacitor
+2 220pF C0G capacitor
+3 2.2uF WIMA Film capacitor
-1 1 ohm resistor
+5 1.5k resistors from fordgtlover
+~100 1.5k resistors (too large, replaced by fordgtlover)
-1 274 ohm resistor
+2 270K ohm resistor
+3 30v 1a schottky diode
+8 DIP8 socket

Interestingly the key parts that are missing (comparator and regulator) are mirrored with extras in in similar but fundamentally different parts.

Where to from here?
Tomorrow morning I'll be visiting auspost to see if I can mail 3kg satchels as 500g (or if I have to move your entire kits into different bags provided they're light enough).
Tomorrow evening I'll finish packaging the double kits - which will be far less likely to be under 500g, obviously.
Based on what I discover tomorrow morning, ddw and I will reach an agreement about shipping. Unless I hear otherwise everybody with a plugpack on their order will be upgraded to express (& shipped before 10am Thurs) - however the other satchels if shipped Thursday should still arrive Tuesday at the latest.

Uhh. Anything I haven't answered? Oh yeah here's the latest pic from the machinist - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18030449/O2 panels/IMG_1068.JPG that was sunday/monday iirc.

Firstly, BF, a big thank-you!!

You've covered most things 🙂

If there is a (one) spare kit not claimed by the original purchaser I will take it off your hands!

I have a few other projects to build early next year, I'll let you know if any of the parts I'll be chasing are in your spares list if you're keen to recover some $$ on them!

i notice the option for a refund on the plugpacks wasnt given.......only an upgrade to express, or is this in addition to a refund? because with the weight of the plugpack gone the difference between registered post at the heavier weight and the express post without it is likely to be bugger all. thats domestic anyway. upgrading to express for international is likely to cost as much as the kit without pack or case

clearly you didnt have time, but you for sure had time to let someone else do it or should have MADE time, we all have busy lives, but when it becomes clear you cannot fulfil your commitments to others and there are solutions on the table, probably best to take them

sashaw has a point, can you advise when to expect the panels?

Also a few pages back $16.60ea was suggested as value of panels that would be outstanding after rest of kits were shipped. Do you agree with this?

Can you tell all the price differences in shipping after you visit Aus Post tomorrow morning please? If we're back to 500g parcel, upgrade to express could be mostly covered by original funds for postage perhaps?

You haven't proposed anything for people who ordered two plug packs - are you planning to upgrade the postage and refund the amount for the other?

And I'd like clarification of your Express Post offer. You've charged $10 already for the 3kg ebay satchel, now you're proposing to take the $17.50 (?) meant for a plugpack - bringing postage up to $27.50. How much does the Express Post method cost for a 500g package? The AusPost website suggests it's $9.20.

Where does that leave the overseas buyers?

I'd be happier if you used the money from the cancelled RS order to directly refund the buyers.

Change of Melbourne postal address

Well BF things are finally happening - Thankyou

As mentioned earlier don't post to my Melbourne address that I supplied when first ordering as I'm overseas until end of January and Aust Post only holds parcels for a limited time before returning to sender.

Considering I won't start to build my two Kits until I return, then I'm willing to wait for the front panels to be finished and posted out as one lot to my brothers Melbourne address which I will pm to you once you post a message to let us know that everything is right to go.

PS : don't forget I was one of the first to order and pay for 2 extra batteries when you first asked to unload the excess stock, so total batteries for my 2 kits is 6 which has never been updated on your spreadsheet.

Looking forward to hearing the good news - Cheers.

I actually prefer that you just refund my money rather than converted into a very expensive express shipping (shipping costs that i paid + 2 plugpack cost = approximately $ 60 ???).

Because now it does not mean much to me.
My friend had ordered from another place that its service is faster than mine.
In a few days as well, the holiday season has begun.
I'll go out of town until the beginning of a new year begins.
So any choice just the same, I will accept the package at the beginning of next year.
I'll choose a cheaper shipping costs.

I had somehow missed that the front panels were not included in what I already paid. If that's correct, I would rather cancel the plugpack, and use that money to pay for the front panel, rather than upgrading to overseas express shipping. Or perhaps I am misunderstanding the details...

yes 9.20 and thats just buying one, methinks BF probably got some sort of discount buying that many, its not a fair swap at all, money for express shipping on 500g is more than covered by registered on 3kg. you should be offering refunds on the plugpack and panel, that is provided you still have the money. not finding out it wasnt in stock for this long...doesnt make a lot of sense, ive had nothing but good dealings with RS

I think its perhaps just confusion. The cost of front panels talk is purely to establish a cash value for parts remaining with BF now that kits are being split up to ship without panels.

Offering express post instead of refund is quite ridiculous as others have pointed out.

BF - You have already promised me a refund for my x2 plug packs ordered when I said I'm not interested in the ones without an australian plug, when will you refund me?

DDW - If you end up going to meet BF, I'm happy for you to pick my 2 kits and post them to me, thanks!

Thanks for everyone involved in helping to hopefully finish this GB soon.

No worries - I'm going to wait and see what BF comes up with tonight or tomorrow by lunch and either wait for it in the post, or I'll pick my stuff up and whoever else wants me to post theirs - it may cost an extra $10 but at least you'll know wtf is going on.
I'll post as soon as I hear from BF, it's starting to wear very thin. I was hoping this would end on a positive note but it's sitting 50/50 at the moment.
