That's a relief (for me), as the two I bought from Analog Metric show open circuit.
I can confirm that the two purchased from Analog Metric are working fine.
So many posts mention about the fake TDA1541A S1, Do you know how much is the sound different? Is it worth to upgrade?
Your question is confusing !!
There are many threads re: the sonic differences of the TDA1541A variants.
If you buy anything from the internet particularly from the Far East, beware !!

i thought there were some early batches with double crown s1...
Nevertheless the bottom crown looks a different print

S1 double crowns are S1 single crowns which have been re-tested at a later date and found to meet the S2 double crown specification. This explains why the second crown printing doesn't match the first one - the second crown was printed on a different machine.
A lot of people reckon that the Holland S1 double crowns are the finest variant of the TDA1541, although I prefer the 1997 batch of Taiwan S2 double crowns.
My hunch is that these are genuine - but there are a lot of skilled fakers out there who know the high value of these IC's so buyer definitely beware. Even if they are genuine though, $350 seems over the odds to me. However, like everything else, they're worth what someone is prepared to pay for them.

sure is fake S1= 1 crown
S2= 2 crowns
Just read the datasheet!
TDA1541A/N2/S1 bit 1-7 EdL < 0.5 LSB
bit 8-15 EdL < 1 LSB
bit 16 EdL< 0.75 LSB
The S1 version has been specially selected to achieve extremely good performance even for small signals.
