Did u notice any better sound? Screens are gone, now if I can keep the cats out of them ,lol Mine has a mesh screen, and then a finer one behind that!, But they did have wheels on and the horns were mounted inside too when i got them
No, didn't notice a big difference, but the things were not dialed in at all at the time.

I actually thought about that last night as i have a mechanics scope,They sound a little brighter with the screens gone! Wss playing them again last night and it looks very close to hitting while pounding them, I threw a card in between the surround and baffle board and it does it the card. But why only on this cab and not the other?
Finally heard from Bill My woofers are "DONE" time to resume project soon 😀
@Pano Bill said that the voice coil in the one wasn't even close to being in the gap so he had to recone them.And on the other the coil was scratched like it was rubbing on something in the gap.But he said both drivers are now identical with regard to T/S parameters.And they will be on their way home ! 😀

Just a difference in the suspension one would suppose. It can happen that they don't both age gracefully.

I would agree with that ,but i switched out the new recone that was doing it to the old altec just to confirm it was not the speaker, and they both are doing it. I have some pretty stiff foam i have from work here i will make an addition to the gasket and see if it goes away, will report what i find and hopefully don't hear 😀

Yes Exactly. I got an email update (Tracking) and sure enough it is UPS my favorite shipper (NOT).The UPS guy that delivers my area likes to throw the boxes to the ground regardless of the (Fragile Stickers) on the boxes.
Got My 416's Back !
Well I just got my woofers back From GPA yesterday after 2 months.Bill assured me that the T/S parameters are identical.The problem with one pair was that he said they must have been stored face down for way too long as the coils weren't even close to being in the gap.And on another woof the voice coil was scratched,he thinks something must have been in the gap scoring the coil.Which he clean out replaced the coil,cone,spiders,etc....
I mounted them in my 612C's to just give them a quick listen and i must say they sound real nice,and look fabulous too.They will make a nice addition to my new Project .Can't wait to get going again on it. 😀
As long as i waited,I feel it was worth the wait now.
@Pano I plan to measure them myself though 😉 But if the sound is any indication they should be as he said (Identical) All woof's were recharged as well.
