Will you help a newcomer with his first multi-way project?

Thanks pipsk,

Looks very nice.

I see that the top shows how the mdf is glued together.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I have to warn you I did this several times . You can sand it down flat but you will always see the joints again though the paint event through veneer. The wood keeps working with different temperatures and moisture that causes to show the joint.

To solve the problem glue a thin 3mm MDF board on top and sand the sides on you will get a perfect finish.

I can't right now because they're not in my current home but I will try to make some tomorrow.

Now for the sound. They sound great without the corrections my old speakers needed so bad to play any bass, they do great with just T3 amp. I'm looking for some USB DAC so I could connect everything I want. The bass response is very deep but also very dependent on how do you place the speakers in the room compared to the old speakers, highs are ok, certainly not metal sounding as I heard on other forums, I think they are even softer than those paper tweeters on my old speaker system, mids are nice and clean and the whole balance between the three is quite good. I still need to do some more testing. I want to thank you for helping me out 🙂 I couldn't do it without you Helmuth and whole diyaudio.com .. Thanks!

That they are good I believe direct, the paper-cone is still a simple and hard to beat good sounding transducer.

Like you mentioned here is't all about tonal balance of the 3way system. Tone control can't help when your loudspeaker is having a good response of it self. That is what its all about the good balance between low and high and mid not on 1meter but on listening distance in your room.

I am very curious about the pictures.

I have Visaton Experience V20 with old, year 2000, crossover version and all capacitors are cheap bipolars. Is the new crossover version better enough that I should replace old one? Or I should just replace some bipolar caps with polypropylenes?
Someone also suggested to add 0,1uF MKT parallel with large bipolars. Does it make sense?

I'm sorry but I didn't hear the old crossover so I can't really compare them or tell you if it's better or not. I'd like to help but I don't know. I used original Visaton parts in my crossover and I didn't mess with any other caps. I'm sure there are lot of different people who can help. There is also a link to visaton forum somewhere in the topic, I think you could ask there for help if you can find it.

Hi Jacub,

How about the pictures of the finished V20 project?

And did you ad loose wool filling inside the box.?

Helmuth

How do you mean loose wool filling, should I fill the box? I've got four unused packs of visaton stuffing material in my car, so I could try that. And here are some pics, we were representing our school and we even won an award.

Congratulations with the award they look impressive.

And yes stuf the top and bottom part only the way from the backside of the woofer to the BR-tube shout be free from stuffing to get a good airload from the BR-tube.To test if it works you can make a pulse with a battery and you shout get a dry bop sound not a boing.
