U163 has probably got 5V on it, maybe its just a little tarnished and hard to measure.
I would check RY11 and RF01 for voltage (5V) either side of them if the reg is ok

Well yes but that's easily sorted.

That sounds like a good story, do tell.....
Adam 🙂
Hehe, the story's all in this thread. I broke my old CD63 spectacularly about 3 times back in what I call "the early days". Everyone was a newbie at one point and for me it was about 3 years ago I guess! Obviously now I'm pretty awesome at mods lol
I have since blown the decoder in my Arcam Alpha (a ground wire lifted overnight forcing unregulated voltage onto the output of a regulator) but I soldered in a new SMD SAA7310 and it worked fine after that. Not bad considering the EPIC mods list on that player.

LOL those ground wires are such a pain, the way they just 'lift overnight'.

I did manage to blow up my Linn LK140. It is now a gainclone, but looking at the Linn sign makes it sound much better!!!
I've blown up a few of bits a pieces too, although not as many as Lee!! Lmao
Orly.🤐🤐
My cd94 took itself out, nowt to do wi' me.

I will say only this: if you use random bits of old tinned wire (e.g. from a pc smps) it's a case of how often will solder joints break, not will they. I learnt this the hard way and now only use bits of Kimber speaker wire as the quality is such you almost always get a great, solid joint.
Good general advice for anyone doing their first PSU mods.
