I have a question for the moderators. Have you considered changing the punishment to just moving the offending posts to a different area? This IMHO is a lot harsher a punishment. These people act so when angry but after they cool off they'd be forever ashamed of their behavior, out there for all to see for as long as the forum exists.

The idea of Texas. See SY's story

It's a good system, but I'd like to see a brief explanation included when the new rules etc are published.

I've seen a couple of instances where it's caused confusion with new members who haven't yet cottoned on to how the system works.

Yes, it will be cleared up somewhat. Presently the websites navigation is a very large, very ugly thorn in my side, and when I'm done, all these things will be clear, well documented, accessible and obvious.

Forgive me but...
An "engineered" exit, that it how it looks to me. To create a stir, get some attention, go out with a bang.
Otherwise seen as "not going quietly" or "a martyr for the cause" or "he went down fighting for what he believed in"

Rumour has it
that Andy had set up his forum several months before he started "acting up", one might conclude it was a considerably planned safety net.

How about the story of the "yellow card", Uncle SY....

"Yellow cards" may be given in the form of "infraction points". Those points "stick" for a specified amount of time. If you are carrying 100 or more points at any one time, you will be put in the sinbin until enough points expire that you have less than 100 points. This will be well documented in the future.

This is one new thing we're currently trialing in order to try to encourage good behavior without resorting to putting people directly in the sin bin.

We're making progress on all fronts. As the ad goes "It won't happen overnight, but it will happen".

Yellow card/red card are a new way of giving warnings. We are still all getting a handle on it. A way of sticking shades of grey in between binned & not binned.

Thanks for the details guys.... I do very much appreciate it.

ditto :)

I still don't see the yellow tag on that post Jarrett linked to. I'm guessing you only see your own.

Ha.... I always surf the forums logged in, so I didn't even think to look otherwise. You're right of course. The "yellow card" isn't visible to other members, or at least guests.

This raises a good point though. Not that I strive to live on the edge of Bin time, but until that "carded" post, I had no real clue what would push the Mods into action. ...and the lack of warning on the other involved member's post confused me further. I was pondering why was I singled out... It's apparent now that I wasn't, and was just implementation of the "carding" format.

I don't know if this will be the continued method of official warnings, but IMHO I don't see the need to make the warnings invisible to other members. If nothing else, it provides an occasional point of reference to what is acceptable and what is not.

This is the first time i visit other forum areas..what a surprise

all moderators here, or almost all them.

Well.... in my imagination, moderators goes monitoring threads and posts...but i see i was wrong, and this explains why some folks abuses..as moderators are busy in other places.

So, i am also feeling sad, sometimes i have sent mails to moderators and no answer.... in my understanding you were too much busy reading thousand of threads....but i see you all have time to spend this way...well...it is nice..but posts and threads?.... nobody taking care?

Well boys, using my white hairs i would say.... Get back to work boys!... you should be watching posts and threads...forum is fair.... there are rules to follow...if people is not happy they can leave the forum.... or give a break to breath some air maybe.

I have no complains about moderators....well...now i have one..they spend time in other issues than to take care of posts.... and sometimes, people alike me, are bothered while you are here... and no one knows.... then when i explode damned people may be surprised and will say uncle charlie is in crisis...but there are things that happened you do not know..maybe because chating here.

I was military.... someone gives orders and others obbey..that's the way things are.... i have nothing to complain, or discuss, about moderator's behavior... and i think they are fair...

"Manda quem pode e obedece quem tem juízo"..... my country say.... Give orders is a priviledge to the one CAN give orders, and others, if clever, better to obbey without discuss.

If you wanna know.... better to provide moderators a double barreled shot gun with salt pelets..to give some shots in some guys back yard, as we have a lot of bad educated people in our forum... i think they should receive advise, alerts, also be punished when repeat bad behavior and also banned if continue to bother..also i think moderators have not to explain themselves..they are doing their job...when not chating here, naturally,

ahahahahah!

regards,

Carlos
