About the output tubes to get a good sonic performance use only 5687 Jan Philips or original NOS E182CC Mullard.
SPDIF input transformer
Can anyone please suggest where I can buy the input transformer?
Thanks

You can se all information of DAC-END at:
DAC End 2 - the AD1865N-K with single ended vacuum output stage

I mean where to buy the input transformer.
Is the Lundahl LL1572 footprint used on previous DAC END compatible with this new board?
I can buy that from K&K audio.

I checked some shops, but it's pricing is between 40 to 50 Euro each.😡
Anyone an idea ?

Hi! Andrea can ansew you!
Now i use Pules transformer in put!
Hi Quanghao, May i know the C8 to C12 on DAC board should be 0.1uF or 0.01uF? Because DAC board it show 0.1 but schematic show 10nF. Thanks.

it is 0.1 uF. Schema has not been updated yet.
There are 4 caps 10nF (C26, 27,28,29)
Anything from 10nF to 1uF goes, as long as they are small (physical).

About the input transformer I have found two choices:
- Lundahl LL1572 with amorphous metal core and low copper resistance 25$ each
- Scientificonversion SC947-02 with interwinding shield to reduce interwinding capacitance 16$ each

Does anyone have partlist for Digikey (for parts that can be found there)?
Is there any risetime / capacitance specs for Lundahl somewhere? Who sells those?

Andrea,
It would be easy for me to buy the input transformer locally from Farnell for $12
Could you please check for me as there are several available.
Here is the link:

Audiodesign, I'm just curious what but besides the best sonics what is the reason that we only have those two make/model tube choices?

Mullard E182CC is made by Philips and the best one is made in Holland. There are Mullard E182CC made in USA and they don't sound as good as those made in Holland. The price also tells you the same thing.
The Mullard tube is basically Philips Miniwatt E182CC "PQ" Premium Quality or "SQ" Special Quality very long life. Same as Amperex 7119 "PQ". Valvo E182CC is also Philips.
A cheap alternative is Russian 6N6P or, for more details, the copy Chinese 6N6-T Beijing (very good sound). BUT you cannot plug it into the PCB as the pins are not compatible. You need to re wire to separate socket. Electrically are compatible, don't need to adjust the setup. Socket replicators to re-route pins is another option.

how about that for the tranformer, i see a few other dacs have used this.

yes, just use a good usb to spdif converter.
from what I've read, that is unadvisable. and it's better to use the i2s output of the USB DAC (e.g. pcm1707)
how about cutting traces on the PCB and using a rotary switch to select which input goes into the I2S input of the AD DAC? thanks again 🙂
