Thanks for the info Damage!
Yeah older Alpine could never compete on power, but I like the sound some of them make. I wonder if the SIP IC they use to drive the outputs has anything to do with how they work.
Watt for watt, the early Sony (89-93) XM stuff sounds way better to me.
I have a later mobile ES that is Japan made, full of features, and its huge but I have never tried it. Is 2x75rms.
Not in a million years 😀hey hey....wanna give that blown 7600 a new home? cash or trade??

3502, someone here picked one up not long ago. I figure my 3518s are old enough.
There has been some old stuff on epay here lately, but much of it is odd stuff not the typical.

One Coustic AMP-150 and three AMP-300, all very dusty in storage for 10++ years. Only one 300 was not mine at one time.

I don't know, heavy MDF boxes are not light either. I would guess it does not need to be that thick, but there has to be a structure inside to hold it together. IIRC you cement the stuff together not sure how else you mount it. I looked at some sq ft tiles here that are similar, .5" thick, and not even that expensive though one would need larger pieces for most boxes. I use ply most of the time, lol, but if I had the right sub for a small box like 1cf, then I'd consider this.
I got quite a few Linear Powers. Most of them modded by TIPS. And yes they do sound amazing. Also have one thats about 30 years old and still sounds good, and never have been repaired or modded.
