Krill - The Next Generation

Here is the LTspice files for the output stage I posted and have been giving results for. Check for yourself if you run LTspice. After you run the AC sims, set the AC input to zero and add 28VDC to the DC offset voltage on the input and check current flow in the emitters. Set the DC input negative and check again. Reach your own conclusions.

If you decide to add the 220 resistor they requested, I left the wires in place where you would add it. You will need to change the bias resistor, R14,to 1074 ohm to adjust the bias back to the previous level.

No one has anything to say?

Because there is nothing to say that hasn't been said already.

As for your instructions:

"After you run the AC sims, set the AC input to zero and add 28VDC to the DC offset voltage on the input and check current flow in the emitters. Set the DC input negative and check again. Reach your own conclusions."

I followed them back when you first posted, and (no surprise) it makes absolutely no difference (again) if the output stage is biased with the Krill biasing circuit or an ideal voltage source. It's a simulator quirk stemming from the fact that the driver emitters are floating. You could have checked for this yourself.

I'm sure you won't mind posting your sim files so we can all check these claims for ourselves.

Steve,

No mileage left, only bad feeling? Could that be it?

It's a very clever design, but appears to have run its course here.......

Happy New Year to you and your family!

Hugh

You'r right Hugh. I'm wasting my time here. It would be much better spent over on GK's or SYN08's or Scott Wurcer's latest threads demanding they post their sim files (they MUST be in LTspice) so we can all check out the outrageous claims being made by them. Oh, and if you decide to sim them yourself, use ONLY the first schematic of the circuit they posted. Using later schematics they have posted with corrections or improvements IS NOT allowed.

Andy_C gets a pass on this because I haven't been able to find a circuit he has contributed here. Maybe he could post the schematic and test results for that amp he started years ago. We would all like to see how it is really done.

Steve,

As a total outsider, but a reader of this thread and your previous one, I think your response here may be part of the reason why interest has petered out on this thread. Please take this as constructive criticism, but you haven't taken too well to anyone raising questions about your design or your interpretation of your design. Every question or alternative explanation of your design has been taken as a personal attack, rather than a search for the truth. And.... when you feel you have been attacked personally you have lashed back in kind. Perhaps folks have gotten tired of this kind of dialogue and have just moved on. You have made your points and they have made theirs and it doesn't seem likely the two views are going to merge. It seems like it is no use going over the same arguments again and again.

It is also possible my interpretation of things and some of the reactions we have read in this thread as well come about because of the difficulties of internet 'conversations.' I wish you a Happy New Year and hope you are able to develop your designs further this year.

Steve.

I'm sorry you feel so bitter, I would gladly post any files and help you get parts to duplicate my results. I would even send them at my expense (as I have done for a few folks here).

You know very well that I can no longer build anything. Anyway, I just used you as an example of someone who is not posting your files in LTspice, as was demanded of me. Just an example, nothing more. Not meant to seem like an attack on you.

Sorry, as a rule I do not post any sim files.

I know that, I also know you do not use LTspice, at least as your preferred program. How would you react if someone on one of your threads demanded you post your files, in LTspice, the only acceptable format apparently? How would you react to being called a liar if you posted results someone didn't think could be as good as you claim, because you were reluctant to to post your files in LTspice? At the time I was called a liar, I had already posted my files in another programs format, but that was not accepted.

I don't know how I would react, usually my projects are not subject to such arguments. I can only guess it's because I don't make any extraordinary claims.
