After some optimizing there is one thing, which astonishes
me at most: In the highs >1kHz the driver can easily compete
with specialized tweeter designs.
It sounds very detailed and brilliant but there is no sharpness
or harshness. After some tweaking i cannot observe
sharpness when listening to sybillants of the human voice or
cymbals. I own some very good tweeters including a ribbon i designed myself some years ago. Only the ribbon has a slight
advantage in resolution in the uppermost area.
Resolution of the driver is on a very high level. When pointing
directly to the listener, there is a slight disturbance in below
the nasal region between 600 ... 1200 Hz. So i prefer listening
slightly of axis.
Integration of the driver into the baffle
(no protruding edges e.g.)is important, my current
cabinet has reached the end of its lifetime i fear.
I plan to design a ML transmissionline cabinet especially for the
next version of the driver.
