And bare paper cone is bad for outdoors I quess. Well I have collected enough information and made the best compromise for me and my use. You'll see soon what suited my needs best. I reveal a bit, ordered just 5,6Ah 18V LiPo battery. Acryl laser cutting firm just told me they have both glossy and matte black acryl, I might go with matte since it's not that much of a finger print magnet.

(2,5 years ago with same money I got 3,3kg 12V 7Ah lead acid for my first blaster) Some progress here :D

I could get the metal diaphram p-audio 407N for 3 dollars. Is it worth 3 dollars? :D I think I could pair it with p audio wn-8s bass driver.

I already have a good sounding prototype running but it's too heavy. That 8" paudio on the url weight only 1,3kg and looks interesting to me. I'm willing to pay to lose 2kg (my bass driver in prototype weight a bit over 3kg)

Amplifier arrived, it even works! Atm. listening to only one channel until I get resistors to sum the input.

Cool little computer in the pic

But btw - maybe I'm wrong but I don't think you need any resistors to sum the input - just wire them together. But I'm a bit scared to say this with any certainty as you probably have a reason for the resistors ... ?

I think i'll just order right now P Audio WN-8S and previously recommended PHT407 (without N) 30e more cost but whatever :D I just wan't to cut 2kg away from weight.

He, that "computer" is the coolest phone on earth atm. Motorola Droid!

Oh damn, postage cost from loudspeakerplus to finland is 150 dollars lol. Cant' find that bass driver on any other shop :(

Got emails from multiple shops, no-one selling WN-8S anymore.

Here's another attempt: tried to balance the weight cost and sensitivity. Is it possible to make these work together. They both are sold on thomann so I can actually get those and not only dream about :D

Eminence - The Art and Science of Sound

Cost is 70 euros total. Tweeter is not the lightest (700gr) but pretty small in size and price. I need a tweeter which can be hidden behind about 80mm in radius circle speaker fabric. Total weight is 2,6kg. The bass and tweeter I have in prototype weight 3,5-4kg total and have less sensitivity (89db/w)

Saturnus: (or any other pro)

I found really light tweeter (130gr) which matches the Eminence bass drivers sensitivity 94db/w. Could I put 6db/oct roll off for bass starting at 1000hz to tame the small spike at 2000-4000hz and 12db/oct @ 2000hz for the tweeter. For my eyes it looks okay starting point. Does it matter that bass is 8ohms and tweeter 4ohms if I just remember it when calculating the xo parts. Tweeter is 30 euros and bass 40 euros and both are sold in shops where I can get those. These drivers match all my needs if they only work together :D

I'll be really grateful for any opinions. I'd like to start building now!

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Visaton pa diy kit: http://www.visaton.de/en/bauvorschlaege/2_wege/mb208_h/index.html 94db/w 85-20000 -10db 20liters, it's like designed for me!

Quick test how the Visaton would look. Bass drivers behind speaker fabric and horn in the middle. Smaller fabrics are reserved for trying reflex tuning.

http://www.lautsprechershop.de/pa/index_en.htm?/pa/em8bet_en.htm Optional diy kit with Eminence bass. I think I build the Vistaton or this so I don't have to design the crossover.

I hacked together a ghetto blaster using the Sure Electronics TA2024 board, a pair of car speakers & a lead-acid battery all stuffed into a flight case. The speakers are rated at 93dB so it's actually astonishingly loud for the power & the flight case is so well made I could probably take out a brick wall with the thing, but alas it is much heavier than I would like. Still, it was a fun project which works great as long as I can be bothered to carry it to the beach!

I've mounted the power switch on the outside since those photos were taken & still plan a few more changes (SMPS for mains power for one).
