YAAR Patrick my gud Ol Papa Alafa Tango,

Was missing you here for many days. It appears I was born ulta so is my engineering ie reverse. We can always get the Titan PCB made but one off stuff will be expensive. Secondly a PTH will not be viable for one off job. I suggest go in for only double sided ie you solder on both side, this will require processing charge of 2 screen ie @150 per side plus additional cost of double sided board material at at Rs4.50 per square inch.

Ham radio project I am working on a PCB for DDS using KY6CGN design with Atmel controllers. Mail be direct at : lkorahul@yahoo.com for radio stuff and homebrew trx. send me a scan too of the ckt. PCB layouts a small thing for my good friends.

Regards and 73 to one

Wow Great!!

OK Rahul, now you're telling us. I did notice the lab in Lucknow is getting all the more impressive. I could have mistook your lab for the one at an IIT! Wow!! I simply envy you. BTW how much did you say the VU3NSH 13.8 VDC PSU PCB costs?? I think I will have to buy it now as I am redoing my 13.8VDC PSU with the VU3NSH design. About the Titan 2000PCB and the other diagrams I think I will have to ask Tarun (tcpip) in this forum to email you the circuit because he emailed it to one of my email accounts where I find it troublesome to communicate with my web hosting company to even open the mail. Its a large 3 to 4MB file so please let me know if your mailbox can handle that.

If I remember correctly from the last time we talked on air.. your rates were very reasonable. Perhaps your shedding light on the topic here will benefit all other forum members on this and other threads that are India relevant. An email from me is coming your way. Meanwhile, please feel free to quote your PCB making charges for single and double side boards on this forum so that the many audio homebrewers like myself will benefit from this information and yes, when you catch Sanath- VU2YI drag hime here too, his !!

Regards to all and 73 & 88ees to you.

Hey Patrick, Nice 2 C U regular here. Thanks for the compliments on stuff. Just a bit of help from my friends , a pair of keen eyes and will to do is all thats important. How about joining us on another India thread under electronics and parts "Group amp" BTW no small setup at UR end too my friend.

For the PSU I did not make the board for NSH design but it was for an aticle from RADCOM a 40 amp supply for 13.6V you can see here:

http://www.qsl.net/vu2upx/Projects/40apsu.htm

I strongly advice against 723 based high current supplies as they start acting funny in prsence of strong RF field but on other hand would advice you duplicate the commercial ICOM PS30 schematics. No point trying to reinvent the wheel.

If you are interested drop a line I send a couple of boards over to you no money but you will have to send me one of those pliers you mentioned somewhere.

I do not make PCB but was instrumental in getting a small time printer in this line one going by name of Akram Hussain ( very nice guy) Ph:-0522-2214618- he still feels obliged and accords top priority to our work. Unfortunately he does not has PTH facility only manual PCB for single or double sided. His rates I have mentioned earlier in thread.

Will check the mail too.

I really appreciate your attitude, putting in some effort to enable someone else to do something he would not have done by himself. I have similar hopes that we guys of diyaudio will be able to do something for Uncle Harry. He's currently sweating it out, working on some costing figures for a US-based dealer who has asked for 400 knobs. This dealer approached me after seeing my posts in the forum; I've now brought him into direct communication with Uncle Harry. If the deal works out, Uncle Harry will make his first commercial deal with the "export market." :D I'm keeping fingers crossed. And I'm hoping that when Uncle Harry makes interesting knobs for this US dealer and other people, he'll make a few extra so that we all can pick them up and have some of the sexiest knobs in the diy audio world. :)

Oops! Is "sexy knob" a pornographic, lurid, lascivious phrase? Please, please, guide me along the path of ascetic celibate salvation! :D

Tarun

All we software guys have been hit by the way the US$ has headed south in the past 2 years, wiht US$ denominated exports so it would be good if Uncle Harry quotes Euros if he is able to-and Uncle Sam accepts euros!

He will gain on currency fluctuation, instead of losing..

BTW talking of chicken and mutton tikkas, did you guys catch the glimpse of Lahore's "Food Street" in yesterday's cricket telecast? Must say it looked quite tempting.

Rgds

George

P.S. I will be a bit inactive on this foum from tomorrow because I will be away from computers for a while. Till then, to quote ex-PM Chandrashekhar(I actually saw him doing this in Bombay airport many years ago), I say with folded hands-Namaste, Dhanyavaad"

I have often seen something very simple for us may go a long way for other person. I am sure Tarun your introducing of Uncle Harry to Diy and international community will bear fruits and his hard work will be appreciated apart from providing him with $$.

Patrick my PCB man is limited in means runs from a small single room workshop hence does not have facilities of mobile and just one helper, important thing is he is a through gentleman. If needed you can get a quote from him and send the artwork to my address.

Rahul

Your fantastic knobs just arrived. Honestly, I have never seen better knobs than these. What a shame that divine intervention torpedoed that excellent thread on Knobs GB.

Thanks so much for you fine gesture, particularly when I realise that you have freely sent out these superb knobs to many of us here at the forum. Our future projects will owe their most beautiful part to you and uncle Harry.

3 cheers for Tarun

Tarun do keep some for the latecomers like me. Say abut 6-8 just tell me how and what to send .

Regards

Rahul

Outstanding is the operative word-great job! I got the package today and opened it up after I spoke to you. Uncle Harry is a maestro.
Good to hear from you, guys. I'm glad (and not a little relieved) that you liked the stuff. George, I hope you found the two small black knobs too? Those go as samples to Variac, together with the eight tapered knobs.

And for all our friends in B'lore who could not get knobs this time, I want to tell you that we'll work to get future supplies. They may not be exactly this shape, but they'll be this well-finished. I need them myself! :D

And Ashok, your RCA stuff was sent out last evening from here. They'll either reach this evening or tomorrow. Let me know when they reach.

Now the next leg is from George in the US to Variac in SF. That'll happen sometime during the last couple of days of March. We await the progress of the flame... :D

regards,
Tarun

Considering your line of work, treat this experience as a character-building exercise. God moves in mysterious ways his knobs to deliver, especially when they needs must be delivered to those of fickle mind and weak faith who initially questioned their worth. "Heppy Eastel, Mistel Jean-Pielle" :D

I'm expecting the knobs to reach Variac by 1 April, after which he'll ship them to you.

Good haiku, BTW :) . I would have penned similar thoughts slightly differently:
I wait here, knobless.
A sudden breeze whispers emptiness to me.
My God is forgiving, at least I'll get some knobs one day.

:D

Tarun, I need one knob for my own use, and one or two
to send to Peter in addition to Uvodee's order
There has been a screwup in the inventory position at Uncle Harry's end... there turned out to be much fewer knobs than the number we'd originally anticipated. Hence, all the knobs that I'd intended to pick up for myself are now being sent out to friends, and even then, most of my friends in B'lore are getting none from this set. They'll only get knobs when fresh sets are manufactured. Similarly, even the consignment I'd hoped to send to you will now carry only eight knobs. Six of these are for Jean-Pierre (I'm happy to note that they're all unmarked, the way he wanted), and two will be for you and Peter. If possible, please send at least one, if not both, to Peter, and also send him the two extra small black knobs that I'm sending as samples. (Those two are from Uncle Harry; I've not even paid for them.)

I know you need more knobs. I'll send you more stuff as soon as we get the next lot made.... I think there's sufficient local demand in India to get a lot of perhaps a hundred made. I'll send you some from that lot. Bear with me... we're all waiting to :)

Tarun

I will post the package with the knobs as you have instructed me to Mark around April 1, so it should reach him some time the folowing week. I will email you once I mail it.

In the meantime, I have been caressing , fondling and fingering them before they leave my custody..(hey Ampman, are you lurking around?)
