This Apeman has been the house clown at the Diyforum. A pathetic little looser. No body takes him seriously. I did a search on his posting. He has a real tortuous thought process inside his pitiable self.

1. He has been banned twice.
2. He comes out with real stupid posts. When other, more knowledgeable members, point out this johny advices them to use "Logicable" thinking.
4. Before he got banned, he was posting under the moniker of FACTOR and STALLION. When he was caught, he offered a stupid explanation. Looser.
3. He asked member Ashok, an IIT M alumni, to brush up his funda. Ashok replied in kind.
4. He ****ed off parenders, cilcotron, Hugh and several others by his silly logic and his gratuitous comments. Just see in this this thread what a fool he makes of himself.
6. After reading several of his hilarious postings I gave up. But I like what Ashok prescribed for him here !!

Is this clown for real???? Just take some time and read some of his posts and what hammering others give to him.

Mr. Apeman:

In case you didn’t know let me tell what you are.

You are a perfect dork. While I enjoy your clownish behaviour, I'd seriously advice that you spend your days with a horny donkey in a locked cave. The average IQ quotient in that cave will go up.

I don't think you will be welcome anymore in any of the India centric forums. Don't bother to post.

To the Mods:

There is no "profanity", "porn' or such in any of the Hindi language postings. Should you desire a word by word translation can be done. TCPIP has referred to taking care of friends ***. More details can be provide if needed.

Tarun and rest of the gang:
Ignore this humpty dumpty henceforth. Let him make an *** of himself in other threads.

Tarun:
Dude sorry that this thread has turned out this way. Lets clean up the S/N ratio. Apeman's buddy hunter screwed up the last thread. I don't want any retarded monkey doing the same to this excellent thread. :devilr:

Yes, this guy is making an *** of himself and showing Indians in bad light. The post he made is in very poor taste. What does he think he is? I am sure the moderators would observe that this thread has been very clean and constructive until Mr. Smarty decided to be the policeman with the big stick.
I am sure I speak on behalf of the others also when I request the moderators to delete all posts relating to this incident so that the constructive discussion can continue.
Thanks,
Vivek

Guess what Stranger is on number 2 and Ahuja last number three as per our good old funny Amp***. I have heard of 2 surely but not the third. Any links on the web ????, any dealer in North India??? Delhi our capital ( perhaps too small a mkt) perhaps Mumbai ???, both combined, any past exhibitions any forth coming ones India/ abroad. Any published papers , article. Any professional installations in our country.

Some CONSTRUCTIVE contribution my friend, some CONSTRUCTIVE contribution something worth showing us amateurs. Just a small TRIED and TESTED good DIYeded Amp rather than phus gas and BASS (in Hindi). Not a difficult task for a ***man manufacturer of professio............. (Remember you offered to Help in this regard)
Now there I go again.

Best wishes

OK Folks

I think with such posts the best thing to do is to ignore it-that gets these trolls even more riled!

Back to business..Can anyone tell me if the Indian MX brand offers good quality gold plated RCA male connectors? If yes, what do they cost? Do they have diffrent varieties-"janata" and "deluxe" or only one? I need two pairs to terminate a set of DH Labs interconnects and was looking at alternatives from Partsexpress, which I have used earlier.

Their house brand is called Dayton and not too high priced. Could also look at Radio Shack there-but if what is avaiable here is a good substitute then I will be Indian, buy Indian!

Thanks for any input.

George

George, MX connectors are of pretty good quality. I regularly buy their gold plated RCA sockets, plugs, binding posts etc. Prices are also pretty reasonable. I bought a two way speaker binding post terminal with shorting clip for Rs. 125 each. They are available in SP Road. As soon as you enter the road, just go ahead a little where the road divides and you will see a shop selling connectors and cable TV equipment. They stock the entire MX range.

Vivek

Thanks for the input. I will do what you suggested.

Tarun is shipping us the knobs today, though the available stock is less than what was initially assumed. Accordingly once it reaches me I will inform Ajju and Sunil. Ajju said that he would contact you.

RCA jacks

I believe in this approach too. Hence my silence on the issue. Frankly, even if moderators decide to take him seriously and remove one or two of our more ribald posts, so be it. This thread, and the value it adds to us, remains. As I'd mentioned sometime back, some come to this Website to read and learn, others come to be heard. Let's ignore the latter and do some interesting audio. :)

I can send you RCA male connectors which I have with me. I've picked them up from Champion Rubber Stores on L.Road. They cost me Rs.75 each. Each jack has a thin plastic band with the word "Monster" on it; I doubt whether this is from Monster Audio. It is possible that some Chinese/Taiwanese OEM maker who made a million of these for Monster Audio (or the clone market) released them to other resellers, plastic band intact.

When I visited Sim Lim Square in Oct 2002, I saw exactly the same connectors there, piled high in a shop on the third floor, and selling for about SGD 4.20 each. I bought 20; he gave them to me for SGD 3.70 or so each. I think the L.Road price is more competitive. (S'pore is not cheap.)

So, George, I'll send you these connectors with today's shipment if I can, and if you like the idea. I'll send you two pairs. And if you want me to buy and send you more, just ask. However, in that case, you'll get them only when you return from the US.

These jacks are heavy brass construction, and have a mouth which has slits cut, so that it grips the outer shield contact of the RCA socket very tightly. As you push the jack in, the segments of the outer ring expand slightly, like a flower opening, and grip the socket's outer contact. Very good mating. The audio dealer from whom I'd bought my audio system three years ago had supplied me all interconnects based on home-brew stuff, using these "Monster" jacks and Gotham cable. That's when I flipped for these heavy-duty jacks, and they seem to behave very well with use.

However, today, if I had to buy more RCA jacks, I'd probably buy Neutrik. They're available in L.Road, with or without gold plating. They're less expensive, probably Rs.45-50/ea. They are much less heavy than the "Monster" labelled ones, and are supposed to be used only with a crimp action for the shield. (The core can be soldered, if you want.) If I used them, I'd solder the shield too. (I have one pair of Van den Hull cables, and I've seen the way their connectors grip the shield... it's not tight at all, and there's neither crimping nor soldering. I guess hand-pressed "crimping" of the shield grip may therefore be okay.) The Neutrik connectors are gold-plated only on the contacts; the rest looks like nickel plating.

Their house brand is called Dayton and not too high priced. Could also look at Radio Shack there-but if what is avaiable here is a good substitute then I will be Indian, buy Indian!
I think Dayton's quality compares with MX of India. And I'm happy with that quality.

RCA jacks and sockets

Do you still have any spare RCA Jacks/Sockets? I searched for MX here at Jsr and in Calcutta. No one seem to even heard of them :(
Yes, I do. Will send you a packet on Monday with a few. How many do you want? Since you haven't seen these, maybe you want to take just a small set, e.g. two pairs, before you ask me to get you more? It's no problem for me sending you two dozen, but I just wanted you to be sure.

And do you want panel-mount RCA sockets too? They're Rs.50 a pair, and you need 100mm dia holes to mount them. They're the isolating type... I must've posted details in an earlier post. They're made by MX. I drool over their gold-plated looks.

I am using some really poor quality interconects for my DVD player to solid state preamp connection that my sons use and have some good DH Labs interconnect wire sitting here waiting to be used.
Will do, but bad news... they'll go only on Monday. I've already sent your packet today with the knobs, perhaps an hour ago. My office assistant has been very efficient. In any case, it's good that he despatched this packet early, because you need to get them before you fly away.

So, please let me know whether it's okay if I can send them on Monday, and I'll do so. No problem at all. Since these are available locally, I can always top up. :)

And Ashok and George, let me know whether you want me to send you the "Monster" stuff, or you want me to buy the Neutriks. If I have to buy, it'll take me a few more days, till I can arrange another trip to L.Road.

Tarun:

Thanks for the offer. Please send me 2 pairs of RCA Jack and Sockets. And what do you propose for the wire?

I know you don't like flattery but let me stick my neck out and proclaim 'what a godsend you are to us ***holes'

/oops. just a feeble hint of porn. Ducking for cover from the house Talibani.

:smash: :smash: ok just two of these.

Added: Is this the real Monster stuff that you read about in AvMax? I will love to have some.

Will do. Since these are all lying at home, I'll be able to ship to you on Monday. And about wire, I am a novice, so don't please ask me for opinions. For such exalted things, you should ask Gooroo Angshu, who, right now, is watching soft dome tweeters on a beach in an undisclosed country in the Far East. He replies to SMS, but nothing else.

Angshu says one can happily use RG59U cable for interconnects, which are used for video in studio environs. I posted this once, and was given a low-down by a fellow-diyer about how RG59 is not just one cable... there can be so many variations. So, actually, some of you who are more experienced should suggest what I can use. I too am curious to know what works.

BTW, I don't know whether this is heretical, but I suspect that for reasonable lengths (2metres or less) of cable and jacks connected properly to either end, there may be practically no audible difference between any two reasonably good coax cables. My experience is limited to the stuff I use at home, and the Van den Hull stuff I bought. Being a novice, I tend towards gullibility, and I've chosen to believe the opinions expressed here and here. :D

I know you don't like flattery but let me stick my neck out and proclaim 'what a godsend you are to us ***holes'
Not being an expert on either godsends or anatomical details, can't comment. I guess I should learn from some Honourable Members who never let their ignorance get in the way of their discourses. :D

Added: Is this the real Monster stuff that you read about in AvMax? I will love to have some.
I very much doubt it. I think it's an inexpensive Far Eastern knockoff. I love its construction (I'm a freshie, remember?) and I've been using it at home on practically all my interconnects, and I went and bought Van den Hull interconnects and couldn't hear any difference on my (mid-fi) audio system. Hence, I'm easily pleased, but I'm quite sure these are not any big-brand things.

Two pairs of jacks will be Rs.300, and two pairs of sockets (MX, isolating type, Au-plated) will be Rs.100. Total Rs.400 plus courier charges. Will accept beer in lieu of payment. :D

I'm sure visions of Xmas, Qts, and Port Dia's are floating around angshu's mind while he contemplates the said drivers.

P.S. Vijay Mallya MP has done an excellent job for his country with the Kingfisher 2004 calendar-India shining and all that. A friend in the US commented that this was as good as any Sports Illustrated he'd seen.

Neutriks

Hello everybody,

Hey there seems to be quite a lot of fireworks here when I was away.

Anyway Sangram our good ol buddy, the Neutrik lad didn't speak up on the phone. TRied twice and both times busy. His Neutrik biz must me brisk else his phone would have been idle sometime. I think I'll try again soon. Meanwhile if you can get hold of his email ad, please do let us know. Rahul my sweet ham lollipop, its been a while since we last talked on the air. I heard a lot of stuff going on but would let you know that by email. Hey you're quite impressive with PCBs there if I remember correctly so why don't you help us out here. I have 12 of my electronic projects all stranded for want of good PCBs 2 of which are ham projects - a ham radio transceiver and a DDS sig gen for HF-VHF and now the Titan 2000 amp PCB. The latter amp PCBs costs the earth from the UK so the search for a desi double sided PCB maker is still on. Are you the one my friend???
