Thank you Victor. What a nice review and careful build explanation. We can see he highly regarded the 8550 and the upgrade with the Arizona caps. In their website I could see there are many options and suboptions for the capacitors, I wouldnt even know which to order. maybe There are other cap upgrades tested with this preamp?

I use the following site as a reference on my Crossover and Audio upgrades.

Will be starting the TU-8550 build this weekend. Will be using the JJ's for burn-in but will be moving to Genalex or NOS as I need to feel out the Pre-Amp. I will be using the following Upgraded parts:
Films: Mundorf Supreme - Silver Oil or Arizona Blue Cactus 0.47uf
Resistors: Precision Resistive Products

Hi Cohiba,
How did the build go so far? Wondering how you chose which caps to use.
I was able to source 0.1uf caps for the 8900 locally but not the caps for the pre so far.
I use these 2 sites for the better parts https://www.partsconnexion.com/ and https://www.hificollective.co.uk/
Thread #53 has a site that I use as a guide which helps in factoring Films. I also have used Arizona, Auricap XO, Mundorf and many others in Speakers,
Audio gear on recapping or building kits. Space is a factor for the TU-8550 with Films and make sure to look at the docs for sizing.

Juptier Copper Cap available now
buy with TU-8550 $65 @
but without TU-8550 $78@
The outside foil end is to the right side of the part if reading the label.
finished the PCB build today and should have the whole thing done tomorrow, all stock kit parts except used Mundorf EVO oil caps
building for evaluation and comparison to my other preamps (Tubes4HiFi SP14 & SP10) once finished if anyone wants this one let me know
