Just a heads up for anyone looking for a 10w (max for low distortion, but rated 30w at 10% THD) amp that sounds really nice. Sanwu TDA8932 for $3.22. No on/off pop at all and built in bootstrap snubber for non fatiguing sound. It was reviewed by DWB, and I just tested today for first time. One was DOA, but I like the one that works. Perhaps one of the best values in class D?

I actually "monotized" mine with two 4.7k resistors in series from L+R to single input and playing on one speaker. Great for nice kitchen mp3 player.

I can confirm that after about 30 mins the are near the white tape in Dr. Mord's picture (where the thermocouple is) does indeed get up to around 80C due to conduction up the vacuum tube.

However, the rest of the handle is perfectly cool, and I tend to hold it up by the top, so I can actuate the button and plunger with my thumb, which is why I never noticed.

Sure with added TI filterless ferrite beads, because the Sure is filterless filterless. And film input and electrolytics and lowered gain, externally added electrolytics etc, multiple Sure pcb's. It does get better than standard Sure but the AC mono's are superior with just lowered gain. Sanwu's looks better than AC's.
