Hornresp

I installed the new version, but it keeps on asking if I want to install the newer version?

Hi b_force,

This is very weird indeed. I have no idea how it could possibly happen if you are using Product Number 5320-211031. Everything works just fine for me if I open the program while connected to the Internet - no update message appears.

Could you please check that you are definitely using Product Number 5320-211031, by selecting the Help > About Hornresp menu commands.

Kind regards,

David

You could perhaps try modelling the design as a compound horn.

Attachment 1:

Use Vrc and Lrc to specify the blue chamber.
Use Vtc and Atc to specify the green chamber (exclude driver volume).
Use segments 1 and 2 to specify the purple port.
Use segment 4 to specify the red port.

Because two sides of the ports are sloping and two (the top and bottom) are parallel, segments 2 and 4 should have Par (parabolic) flares.

Attachments 2 and 3 show an example of the basic design (not to scale).

thanks! Will try that.

I forgot to mention that the acoustical path length parameter value should be set equal to the distance between the centres of the two port mouths, as shown in Attachment 1. From the drawing you provided it seems that the required value to use is 43.2 cm (equivalent to a length of 17 inches) as specified in Attachment 2.

Hornresp Update 5320-211111

Hi Everyone,

BUG FIX 1

A coding change was made some time ago that inadvertently prevented a rear chamber port, throat adaptor or passive radiator from being specified when the Fr or Tal label was double-clicked on a Bes, Hyp, Lec, Obl, Rad, Sph or Tra type horn. This bug has now been fixed. Attachments 1 and 2 refer.

BUG FIX 2

If a value of 99999.99 was specified for Rg on the main input parameters window, a fatal run-time error would occur if an attempt was made to open the loudspeaker wizard. This bug has now been fixed. Attachment 3 refers.

BUG FIX 3

If a passive radiator was specified on a back-loaded horn (Vrc * Lrc = 0), the schematic diagram and combined response results were incorrect. Attachments 4 and 5 refer. This bug has now been fixed. Attachments 6 and 7 refer.

Kind regards,

David

Hornresp Update 5320-211120

Hi Everyone,

BUG FIX

Several menu command shortcut key codes have been changed to eliminate the following five duplications:

Radiation Angle / Resize Wizard
Driver Front Volume / View Schematic
Directivity / Driver Power
Power Compression / Sound Pressure
Output / Options

My thanks to grindstone for reporting the problem.

Shortcuts have also been added to menu commands that previously did not have them.

Kind regards,

David

hey fellow hornresp users!

Is there an compendium of the underlying equations that are used in hornresp? I am using hornresp since quiet a while and I am very happy with this powerfull and efficient tool. Sometimes I would like to better understand what hornresp is doing and how the results are achieved therefore the underlying equations would be very useful. David I know that your are always very helpful and provide the equations if asked. Would it be possible to publish all of them? I would gladly like to help creating such an compendium.

Thank you and kind regards

This idea is very interesting in many ways. Merely knowing how that works would open a window of opportunity to understand so much more about how the entire speaker duct system works in general or (There’s nothing like filling horn response with intention or lThere’s nothing like filling horn response with Intentional numbers or ones that already have meaning and then have it spit out a result that completely agrees with with what is being looked at. And even in the details Where is entirely Nother new layer of information exists and deciphering that is He’s not only processing things about speakers it’s it works all things that spin Giving Up a pattern or some sort of repetition in the upper band with directly correlates to the numbers in the actual band with once looking at the right places with the right unit conversion or mathematical reference.

I’m sure there’s some kind of privacy or security that needs to be maintained in the guts of some of it yet ?? so horn response remains the property and in the possession of our guy. The only guy. Mr McBean.
