Altec Model 19 Clone

Maybe a simple box for your basement?

I believe the photo is the Faital LTH140 horn + Eminence 15" midbass used in the Cornscala in a narrower cabinet.

Yes, the 19 was a 15" two way.

I would look at the 15" SEOS horn (about $35), plus a nice 15.

Better yet might be a dual 12 plus a 1" horn (SEOS, Faital, etc).

Over the years I have built many such dual 12 cabinets, using all-pass delay networks on the 12's to align then in time with the horn HF section. I used 12" Eminence woofers that were around 94dB and could do 30hz in a reasonable sized box and have a sensitivity of 100dB/2.83V/1M (in pairs).

I also attached an example Faital HF146 - 15PR400 crossover to provide some comparison.

in post #68 (pg 7 of this thread) LineSource posted a crossover schematic for the Faital 2 way.

I have a set of Faital 15PR400-8 woofers and am investigating a design like the one he mentions.

Anyone built this?

Can anyone provide any other details on the design (cabinet volume and tuning, measurements, who designed this, etc.) or point me where to find them? Thanks

Not with these drivers, but numerous folks have built M19 replicas with Altec and/or GPA components: MODEL 19

Official Altec cab plans, tuning is around 35 Hz IIRC:

edit: I calculated the M19’s net Vb = ~8.82 ft^3 gross.

I built a 100% copy of the Altec Model 19 speakers with 3/4 inch solid oak..
and they sound GREAT !! here is a picture without the grill....

I made grills also... the grills are held on with 3/4 for the top and 1 inch cup magnets for the bottom that
work perfect !
