i didn't build any new projector up to now ,but 15 branded is best, becoz it has high-resolution than the china made,by the way, where r u from ,if u r in hyderbad,im also interested in building one

have u find the triplet also?

Hi, I'm from bangalore. i'm actually waiting to find a good second hand 15" lcd monitor. if it doesn't workout i might purchase a new 15" lcd monitor.

yes the triplet is available from optics allied here in bangalore. its Rs1800/- so planning to try out with singlet lens first and then get the triplet if everything works out well.

im from hyderabad ,hey aramosfet can u tell me the cost of two fersenl lens and singlet lens cost.
i think u have buy triplet lens only, don't waste money on singlet,i saw lot of youtube videos regarding singlet and triplet lens differences

i ordered two fresnels 310mm and a meniscus pre condensor lens from lensel yesterday. sent them a DD of Rs1400/-. I already have a couple of singlet lens that i got from SP road for 60bucks. its not exactly an expensive OHP singlet. i'll just get the triplet once i have some initial setup working. getting it is not a problem. but i think the optics & allied triplet is too expensive. i read lensel was selling it for just Rs900/- before they stopped.

BTW did u manage to find any suitable lcds? i couldn't find any second hand 15" monitors. so i may have to get a new one.

i wasted 4 months for finding the 15" seconds lcd monitor ,so now iwill go for new one,
and here in hyd acer 15" monitor is 4,600/-

what kind of light u want use now.
i recently find out about LED light for projector, check it once..

one again im asking ,what is cost of single fernsel lens and single cost?
u said 60 buck,is that means 60 rupees?
i want only 1 fresenl lens and singlet or triplet lens..

I'm planning to go for 250W metal halide, OSRAM. will get this weekend. LED are a good option but as of now they are very expensive so i'm going for MH lamps. if you want you can try the 100W led modules. not sure how much they cost as of now.

Lensel has two types of fresnels. one normal quality and one deluxe quality. below is the pricing i got from them last week. I think the deluxe quality is the unsplit type for OHPs.

2. FOCAL LENGTH : f = 216mm&343mm

(d) PITCH : p=0.5mm
(e) PRICE EX-WORKS : Deluxe quality – Rs 800/- (incl. Pkg. Ins.)

3. SINGLE FRESNSEL LENSES – A4 SIZE
(a) SIZE : 310mm X 310mm
(b) FOCAL LENGTH : f = 216mm OR 343mm
(c) THICKNESS : t = 2.0mm
(d) PITCH : p = 0.5mm
(e) PRICE EX-WORKS : Rs 400/- (incl. Pkg.)

4. SINGLE FRESNSEL LENSES – NORMAL

1280x720 resolution,i will tell tmrw all branded lcd 15" costs , becoz im going to CTC here in Hyderabad.
i will inform u,if there is a option of seconds lcd

For the widescreen 1280x720 lcd u need a bigger fresnel lens. the lensel one is 310mm while ur lcd panel is 338mm wide. ur only option is to get fresnel from 3Dlens.com (395mm).

i've heard u get blurred or dim edges where the fresnel doesnt cover the LCD. But i'm not sure how bad the effect is.

If you are connecting to a PC, you can adjust the size to the required length and width.

If you are directly connected to a DVD / BluRay player through some external tuner card, what you can do is to cover the lcd sides as the same size as fresnels. For watching a movie it will no way affect.

Its always better with a 16:9 or 16:10 native screen. I had the Benq 15" wide screen (16:10 native) LCD with 1280 x 720 panel (native). I had been using it with my High Definition HTPC and watching HD movies makes a lot of difference in panels which are HD native.

"For watching a movie it will no way affect"... can you tell me what happens if the fresnels are smaller? does the image brightness reduce or blur near the edges? what about text?

I've already ordered the fresnels 310mm from lensel. i'm just wondering if i should go for a 1024x768 lcd or a 720p lcd. if there isnt much noticeable difference then i plan to go for the 720p lcd.

Thanks.

If the fresnels are smaller than the lcd, the extra area will be out of focus or blurred.

To avoid this, you can either do away with
- Using an HTPC and reduce the size of the image to the same size to fit the fresnels' area.
- Close the extra portion in LCD (distribute it to both sides from the center) so that the movie watching will no longer get affected. This is the easy solution.

Using a 720p panel will always be good for watching HD.

the second option though easier sounds less attractive since you effective lose pixels on either side. I'd prefer scaling the movie or the display resolution itself for the monitor/lcd.

in any case we'll only be losing about 40pixels on either side.

Did you buy a new lcd monitor? If not could you let me know from where i can get used lcd's?

Thanks

Hi,
I am interested to buy your package. Or, if you can make one for me, I would be grateful.

Thanks

Hi guys, i just received the Fresnel lens from lensel. I was able to get a decent image using a 60W incandesent bulb, a transperency sheet [between fresnels] and a magnifier. I still haven't found any source for triplet lens apart from optics allied. Please let me know if there's another source in india.

Also i got the meniscus lens from lensel, could anyone tell me how good these lens will be for projection?

Thanks
