Looks like the rainy season is over.

humans will always complain about the weather...

Part of what makes us human IMO.

We had a wonderful weekend, cross country skiing both saturday and sunday, as well as a couple times after work earlier in the week. Hope the cold will keep for a little longer, but I fear that might stretch my "luck budget".

Perhaps better to look at much longer time-lines when considering the Earth's temperature.

Life will continue. Don't worry.

We might have just avoided another ice age thanks to a well timed industrial revolution.

Finally, we have typical Vancouver winter weather.

No wonder so many people suffer from SAD around here. Nothing like walking to the bus stop to get to work when it's 0º and sleet.

We always learned at school, in Canada the snow reaches the chimney. A lot has changed there.

It was a very windy and cold night here...

The last snow in my area was 8 years ago and it made a complete collapse like in Spain.
It is now 14C with a south wind called 'jugo' which brings rain, and after 'jugo' comes a 'bura' north wind that can reach gusts of 200km/h which is quite cold and lowers the temperature below 0C but without snow and rain . At 0C on the 'bura' you feel like it’s -15C, no matter how many clothes you wear it’s always winter.

Our little corner of the country is much different than the rest. Canada is still a very cold country in the winter. The Vancouver area is not.

Bora (wind - Wikipedia) Wow, sounds awful.

The 'bura' is born here, on the Velebit mountain.
My son was afraid that the 'bura' would take him away, we literally froze, it was only the beginning of October, the sea was still pleasant for swimming at that time.
Photos are from the Kubus viewpoint on altitude of 927m.

You can see that the islands on the north side are completely bare, only grass can grow, everything else is uprooted by the 'bura'. This grass, which is salty because of the sea carried by the 'bura', is grazed by sheep and thus the famous Pag cheese is made.

My neighbour has a one year old sheep dog, fun to watch him barking and trying to catch the falling snow flakes. It's almost gone now.....
