Babelfish M25, SissySIT - general building tips and tricks

Received my Kit #1 yesterday as well - thanks, ZenMod !

Currently soldering PSU ...

Also measuring lead spacings for a few components on PCBs, then hopefully final order for some capacitors and trimmers with proper orientation ... 🙂

Best regards,
Claas

Well, I'm doing the same with the legs ... 🙂
Was thinking about orientation of the adjustment screw, so that ideally I can adjust from top of amp 😉 - sorry, probably didn't speak clearly enough ... 🙂

Best regards, Claas

Started soldering resistors today and asked Donaudio for a volume discount. Let's see. Otherwise I could use my Jensen trannies...

ZM, is what is the Borbely buffer advantage if there is any? Walked through thread, didn't make me more clever.

Cheers

Ernst

had that covered with THD tests either in Babelfish M25 thread or SissySIT thread

I believe I wrote that listenig confirmed what I saw in THD spectra - it brings some more sugar

I don't need more sugar , so I'm not using it

Borbely's WCF style buffer is showing its virtues under heavier loads , and here it is aroundish 1K, which isn't hard enough

try it ...... that's why I sent parts for it and those tiny 1pin sockets

Can't wait to get my hands on this one, Duevels do need some 4ohm capable amp to sing their best.

Ernst please keep us posted about Donaudio's possible discount 🙂

@Juntuin, wow, that is a beautiful speaker! The diffuser looks like the top from the movie Inception ... are you sure you aren't dreaming a beautiful dream right now?

You can never be sure 😉 too bad my Diy skills would never be able to build something like this.

I had seen their "planets" before, but these are even cooler - I see they are called venus, I would have thought the ring of jupiter 🙂

I actually had "planets" years ago 🙂 these are step up in every aspect. Sometimes I find myself missing 15" drivers and horns, but man, these images so beautifully.

Hi just started assembling the Sissies, plowed through the tread but could not find how I should should orient the anode mark on the pc817 in relation to the markings on the pcbs?
No hurry to answer as Im on my 3. brandy so I will not solder more this evening 🙂 Listening to old Elvis records via SPU-A and my M2s 🙂

Just to be clear on initial settings of the trimpots for Sissy. R6 should measure 100ohm between E-S and R7 0ohm betwee E-S while P1 0ohm between S-A (P1, 2k). For offset (P2, 10k) initial value not important?. (A,E,S according to Sissy diagram).

Take good care here, I failed first time and had to unsolder...

You have eight trimpots. 2x 20k, 2x 2k, 4x 100R. First determine which is which (measure). On the circuit diagram it says which is to go where.
Initial setting is also on notes for all of them. Find it on notes, all the information is there.
Last but not least mind the orientation, this was only clear to me later in the case of the buffer trimpots...

Make sure you have all of them correct and only then solder them in.

Edit: Offset is 10k of 20k pot so middle position initial setting.
