Hakuin SE Class A HP Amp

The first prototype boards had issues with the battery fuel gauge system. The amp itself worked well and so did the charging and DCDC step up boost converter.

The second Gen is still under development. Only schematics and layout at this point.

However, if you want to hear what a Hakuin sounds like, you can get the Yarra format daughtebosrds and the breakout board that allows you to connect input / output and the power supply.

Those can be found here:

M2x/yarra Format Breakout Test Board | Etsy

This is sort of one of those pet projects that JPS64 and I work on in our spare time. It may or may not happen. It needs a little more interest from folks and we will motivate to get it happening sooner than later.

Hey XRK! I recently revived my DIYA account just to post here, but given it's been over half a year since the last progress updates were posted here, are there any new updates on the Hakuin? I love my PCA (it's the "strongman" altoids tin from funch), and this Hakuin seems like a lovely improvement in performance over it. Any updates would be greatly appreciated, and if you ever decide to make finished units for sale I would love one and would love to help contribute to a group buy of some kind.

Yes it works great as a line level amp. You can get it as an amp module for the Yarra.

Use it with either the Yarra or the small breakout board and provide your own Dc PSU.

It one of many different line stage modules you can try out.

The Yarra is a wonderful “Endgame” preamp with superb low noise and very capable psu. But quite a complicated and involved project.

The breakout test board lets you get going quickly and cheaply with your own setup.

Hi X,

I am busy running through the "Yarra PreAmp/HPA" thread as I will be building up a preamp using the 70065K 22V Talema transformers.

I have one "Yarra Pre Amp" pcb left, and am planning to make a dedicated HPA with the Hakuin daughter boards.

I am assuming that the 70063K Talema 25VA/15V transformer would suffice here?

Thanks,
MM
