The thanks system has been an interesting experiment. The primary purpose was to encourage high quality posting. To this goal it has failed (miserably), and so it will either be removed or changed to achieve that goal.

Some suggestions:

* You can only thank one person, one time in a thread
* You can only thank one person, ever
* You can only thank one person one time in 30 days
* Show who thanked (currently disabled)

At least show who thanked, it would surely reveal who promised who some sucking in return.

True that. But it's nice to be able to Thank them for giving pointers on where to look.

I didn't mind the Thanks thing,thought it was kinda cool,but I can see how it might get out of hand,and become distracting...(like this thread )

One thing I like is when members put out their real names because it get more personal then but I'll guess this has to do with age. Older people have no particular desire to stay anonymous.
