Use the plug hot as hot and shield as negative, no need for a gnd from the tonearm (when you're just testing). The carts a balanced generator anyway +/-.
I use the RCA plug at the input floating. One Pin of the cartridge per side is connected to the plus input and the other Pin to the minus input. From each input there is 4.7kOhm resistor to ground. I use no shield at this moment, that is correct. Hiss is extremely low and hum is not Zero but low too. I can hear a bit of hum with one ear close to the speaker. That will go away with a shield and the PCBs put in a case I think. I use the output unbalanced.
I build my P-P Zion with a gain of 60dB. That is plenty for my Lyra Atlas but I do not have a linestage with gain at this moment. I just use 10kOhm potmeters before my Tube Poweramps.

Watch also that I did not use the BC327, 337 at the input but in all other places. At the input I use Zetex ZTX transistors.
Best wishes from Paris. I just arrived here with Gudrun. We have an invitation for food tonight. Can life be better ? Well, the weather is horrid.
Fine. So you can confirm the schematic of post 134 with RIAA correction and buffer added ?
I did not see the buffer

Hello Frans..... the link sends me back here.... would you please specify post n°?
PS: Been studying the discrete potentiometer with mosfets that you sent me.... Very good indeed... Thank you so much 🙂

The link brings me to post #135 and from there to #106, #107 and #111 🙂
Guess you have to navigate there manually.
A 1uF coupling cap is a truly problematic part if space is tight. No chance to increase the following stage input impedance ten fold?

No 🙂 the RIAA selected has an low impedance for multiple reasons. One of the reasons is the 'missing' resistor 😕
I just came back from Paris and will listen more on the weekend. I will measure the bias current. I use a RIFA PPS 1uF cap that is not too big. I have shunted it with a 10nF Vishey PP.
