Michael,Awesome! Well done there. 🙂
Thank you. The Zenductor without “harvested on mars unobtainium” devices sounds fantastic driving a very difficult load. Therefore, anyone will be able to enjoy the performance that the IRs inherently bring. Wonderful and amazing design. Thank you.
The original Mofo article is a great read as well!
I'm glad you're liking it. Nelson, Jim (6L6) and I spent many a Monday night on Zoom iterating ideas and schematics for that one. Nelson did all the work and let me share the limelight cuz he's a great guy. 🙂
The problem is when you do something it’s like launching a missile:
ya nutz?
as no one can't do it simpler, all is left to me to make it more complex

while still having same simple signal path

That 6L6 guy is a bit shifty….😂😜
Sounds like this direction is almost begging for a LU1014 cascode equivalent. It's way beyond me, and I doubt I'd get to building it if someone came up with a plugin board. Love to hear your SIT version.

I don’t know what your loudspeaker load is but the great thing about the ZD2 is that in stock form it has a lot of good distortion products, which can easily be adjusted as a function of inductor bias and junction temp of the parallel output devices: highly adaptable and wonderful sounding in absolute stock form. I have, or I have access to a large number of great amplifiers, both tube and SS, and this one holds its own. It looks like a toy but packs a huge sonic punch in stock form (just like the ACA mini). The SIT, IMHO, is really suited for more appropriate designs as this designs already has enough “magic pixie dust.” It was fun trying it and that’s what this is all about.

I am happy with all Inductor loaded amps. I am now using Zen V8, inductor loaded with 19 V switcher. I had used a MoFo, Zenductor 1. Everyone of them has its charm.
Shortly, Mofo has nice fullbbodied sound, bur for me it lacks some spice.
Zenductor 1 has some punch as long as you don't push it too hard and has sweetness too.
Zen V8-ductor sounds pretty much like Zen V8. Sweeter, but not so much punch.
Choose what you like.
If I haven't compared eache of them (A/B) I could be happy with any of them.
What I'd prefer now? Something a bit more powerful than Zenductor 1, but with the same sonic character, and maybe with just a bit of flavor of ZV8-ductor. So, a blonde, a brunnete, and redhaired one, all in one? 😀

I like chokes, whether in thermionic or silicon amps, too.
Z2 will give you more power than Z1 with another N channel hung in parallel. But, I think you have read Papas paper on the Z2 and know this?

The approximate 2X voltage swing of the inductor is brilliant and I wish that work with a cathode follower. But maybe Michael R. has ideas about that……..
it works that way, be it anode or cathode load
though, I'm probably misunderstanding your remark

inductive load, be it in form of "just" choke or complete xformer, or even autoformer ...... is always presenting energy container
you can present it mentally as mechanical spring
in short, yes, in general - you can easily get twice voltage swing vs. resistive load
be it stage with voltage gain ( load in colector/drain/anode) or without ( load in emiter/source/cathode)
now, modulating voltage ( amount) is another side of puzzle

And that difficultly of modulating and the amount of current required to pass through the inductor is why we don’t see these things in the world. I need to see what Broskie has said on the subject.
you don't see them anymore because other ways are costing less
Yes, I see Z2 as a combination of M2 like (buffer+transformer/autoformer) working as a preamp + a beefy MoFo at the output.I like chokes, whether in thermionic or silicon amps, too.

Having played with the MoFo and various preamps, I can imagine what the Zenductor 2 may sound like.
But, I liked the "positive feedback trick" that was done in Zenductor 1...
I'd like to hear F7 😉
Sure, and Nelson and Michael both have very affordable tricks up their sleeves to solve these problems with less parts.you don't see them anymore because other ways are costing less
And they’re not really your thing either.you don't see them anymore because other ways are costing less
SITs are for Sissies

Hey! I tell them it's "sort of a SIT amp CLONE"....
