As long as the discussion is unrelated to any product, trademark or technology promoted by L C Audio, i will be happy to participate 😉
Of course i will not publicise any documents of L C Audio, it's just not fun talking to angry lawyers 😀 (Mostly)

Hi !
The LCaudio company is an interesting one, to us the DIY:s .There is a lot of talk going on at the board, and diyAudio has a huge amount of readers(I provided a link to this thread).
I think the criticism is justified, and hope something positive will happen soon. At least, let us know why there are shortcomings.
Kind regards
Håkan

So now that things seem to improve, why not leave it all behind?
🙂
Sorry , but I feel a need to conclude.
A company and it´s customers have a common goal and interest, at least if the company wants to stay in business, and the customers want it to survive.
The Internet has strengthen the position of customers, as companies used to have an advantage in sending information, we now are more equal.
Some errors has a quite simple remedy. E.g. LCaudio could diverse it´s link to e-mails, i.e. questions about technical aspects of our products ....questions about...and so on.

Hi,
All joking aside, they could perhaps improve efficiency by.... owning a copy of the schematic of the product which they manufactur, and letting support have a copy? This could explain why the fix to the first few problems is taking so long, they have to reverse engineer their own product to troubleshoot it, or are reliant on Lars C. to help, but he can't contract himself, doens't work there, or own the schematic which he keeps to himself?
Confused? Boy I sure am!
From Lars V. at Tech Support:
"I have seen 3 modules till now, one was the original proto type, the other two is located in my own amp "
You haven't seen the returned modules? Lars C. also mentioned the modules are tested before shipping .. this doesn't seem to have been the case at all.
"The modules is so new, that i have yet no "bad" experience with them. hopefully it _WILL_ come later, so i can support you fully!!"
Same as above. The faults have already shown up, it's time to fully support it now.
"It is my firm belief, that the inventor of the modules ( Lars Clausen, my old friend ) is the best person to find out if there is ANY production problems in the series."
It sounds like he still holds the reings in every respect possible.
The criticism really is justified, there's been some serious questions and it's time for some serious solutions, for the good of your company and your customers.
Now, back to pulse field technology... (if they don't have the schematic, they'll never know the difference) 😉

I think it is obvious that i have of course no interest in holding back any documentation from my customers, in any case. On the contrary ... After all i make my livelyhood by helping my customers in any way possible, generating documentation, knowledge and making basis for my customers to sell product. This way i hope they can grow, and in the future give me more tasks.
My way of working is very straightforward: When a customer wants a job done, he sends me an order. Then i acknowledge the order, with price and delivery time. When the time is up, i deliver the requested service to the customer, and receive the agreed payment.
Its a simple setup, and it works fine for me 😎
I started this thread as "Zap Pulse 700XE received today", thinking here would be people discussing the sound quality of the amplifier but it rapidly turned into "No Zappulse 700XE received today"and in time mainly is about LC Audio company and their shortcomings.Nothing remarkable about that, it's just a reflection I made.We all know why we haven't had much opportunity to enjoy and evaluate the sound, compare to other amplifiers etc.Hopefully in 2 or 3 weeks we will be back to the original purpose of this thread if it's not closed by then.
And now to something completey the same

Hello ClassD4sure - And other curious people..:
@1..: I will not comment the decission on whether i'm "allowed" to get a Schematic of the 700XE modules, and who's decission it is.
"The Designer of the electronics which is purchased as a finished design is off course the one to correct the 'child diseases' " - In my oppinion. I cannot in any way hold it against the designer that he wants to keep his secret to him self, so that there can in no way be a "problem" with royalties or something like that...!! . I do off course have a schematic of the older versions of the ZapPulse units - Nooo, you cannot get a copy...!!
@2..: Defect modules which is shipped, is excanged directly at LC Audio in Holstebro, and never appears at my hands...!! - Complete conctructions sent, ends on my table for exchange free of charge. As the modules themselves is NOT intended for repair by hand, i need not a Schematic - But would off course like to see / have it... The Service facility is not located the same place as the production / shipping, so returned stuff ends 60 kilometres away from me... - Like the modules returned for repair...
@3..: Modules are exchanged, later tested for serial faults...
My area of expertise is "people's fault-mountings" and general Tech Support... - Not invention...
@4..: LC Himself, as the inventor, holds the copyright of the modules... - Off course he is "still in bussiness", afterall it is he's little baby...!!
- But back to the pulsefield tech. ...
You Know, Bang And Olufsen Powerhouse Ice Modules is just a OP-Amp in controlles self-oscillation...
Sincerely, Lars / Viborg - Tech Support for LC Audio

You Said it, Pal!!! - I couldn't have said it better myself!!! - The "new" structure of LC Audio is based on buying finished project's, if they are good enough, multiplying them, paying a invention fee for starters, and royalti'es on the volume sale...

Re: Zap Pulse 700xe
Monday 20 they told ChevyDK that they expected to be able to deliver in about 14 days.Let's add another 14 days to that date and I might receive 2 replacement modules together with a Predator psu in a month or so.All the better if their delivery time estimation is correct, in which case I might be enjoying music again in a fourtnight

There is a small comparison between a 2.3SE and a working (!) 700XE on this Dutch forum
http://www.htforum.nl/yabbse/index.php?topic=38116.msg589286#msg589286
(both amp have huge PS, the 2.3 has 2000VA toroid/channel, the 700XE has 1500VA toroid/channel)
The writer says (based on 1 listening session) that the 700XE sounds better (a bit cleaner, more enjoyable at high volume) in the mids and highs, but the 2.3 lets him hear more detail at low volume;. The 700XE might need some playing time though to get to full quality.
The 700XE is the tube amp look alike (briliant)

Are those amp's not pure overkill?
Anybody in here who knows what the max rated volage on the 700XE is?
I'm lookin in to building 2 new monoamps but i can't seem to find any specs on the 700XE yet, and I would like to get the max out off these new modules.

To me it appears ridicoulusly overkilled.I am using one 300VA 2x24V transformer😀
The information I got is no bigger trafo than 550VA per one or two modules.
As far as wiring, look at the "monoblocks can be a problem" section of:
http://www.lcaudio.com/index.php?page=63

it´s a pure cash matter
I built different amps Tube/Solid state with different Transformer size and the bigger the better sound, Even if not needed technically will have a lower output imp. aka cleaner and bold sound.
Cheers

Bolder sound, can be true, which means a fat sound and muddling of mid range and treble. The amp gets its power from the capacitors and not directly from the trafo. There are also rectifiers involved in the total impedance.I don't however recommend the use of an underdimensioned transformer, but at a certain point the betterment of things stop by using more and more and begins to diminish instead

It´s interesting how different humans are in tastes and preferences.... i never judge something from paper.😉 I like to touch and to listen

Does it also sound better if it masquerades as a tube amp ?
Anyway as long as they're built to the same spec the comparison remains valide.
Although I think most would say too big a transformer slows response.

Maybe not, but I think touching it might feel better than touching the common black anodized box
