XY LM3886 Kit Review & Measurements

Does the $9 option include tracking? I thought at $130 it would be best to use an option with tracking. What happens if the boards don't arrive?

Tracked packet international is more expensive. $29 sounds about right. The shipping rates provided on my website are pulled live from Canada Post. I have absolutely no control over them. I do get a small commercial discount from Canada Post due to my shipping volume and I pass that discount directly onto my customers.

I find airmail to be very reliable. To date I've had exactly one shipment go missing. The recipient lived in a back alley somewhere in Singapore and had trouble with regular mail delivery already. Tracking mostly provides peace of mind - which does have value. Whether it's worth the additional $20 is up to you.

For those, such as yourself, who are content with buying a product knowing that you have to hack the PCB with a knife, buy new components, etc. to get it to work well can buy on eBay.

Rather patronizing I must say, personally I cannot justify spending $159 on your superdooper boards (brexit and all that you know😀). As a DIY forum such as this, I doubt, I am the only one!

Good luck with your product, its up against stiff opposition (@ $6).
Your sales pitch makes great reading by the way😀😕🙄

I don't see it as patronising, given that its the fans of the cheap board that are championing the mod. On this forum there is a continuum from people who know nothing and want to just solder up something for fun to those who design and layout themselves (including some who design high volume commercial products). Informed choice is helpful for the new as well as people who want to knock something up as part of a larger project. IMO the more data points to help that choice the better.

Now of course you have made your mind up and won't be swayed. You also appear to be chosing your price comparison $6 is just one channel for the XY and no PSU board. It doesn't change the accepted fact that one product is more expensive. But this is not a thread for trying to persuade anyone. It started as a set of measurements as a data point that didn't exist before and people are now getting all riled that someone wants to charge a fair price for the invested time and knowledge.

Facts allow informed choice. This is good.
Measurements where there were none is good
Options for the DIY'er are good.

So far what's not to like? Which begs the question why the big downer?

I have tried expencive. Denon AVC A11. Boring. I want to learn something new with this hobby. Mark: Hobby!
In my opinion a hobby should not cost a lot. I like to use stuff scavenged from e-skips just bying cheap stuff online.
If the cheap stuff works - great. If it can be fiddled with - super!
Its a good way of learning whats going on, not just assemble something of instructions.
Might as well bought myself a jigsaw puzzle or some lego.
I am passionate of music and good sound. If the XY sounds like crap, I'll admit it and go on.
But not without trying!

What's the big deal. You just run a separate speaker return "ground" wire back to the PSU, bypassing the XY amp PCB completely. No need to "cut" anything. This will keep the speaker current out of the PCB ground trace. Make sure to run the supply wires for rail, PCB ground and speaker return ground as a tight bundle.
That is a bad cure.
It will make the performance worse instead of better.

$6 is just one channel for the XY and no PSU board.
No
$6 is for 2 XY amplifier PCB and a large PSU PCB. It also includes postage
I said so in my post104
I can buy 2 XY pcbs AND the big PSU pcb for ~$6 post included.
But that is for a PCB that has an error and omits some essential components.
It is not the same product and certainly not the same level of customer support.

Customer support is a very important consideration. Some will rely on it and others can manage with none.
One chooses what one needs.

I never said that. For all I know at some time in the past a 3 board set was 6 quid delivered. But right now it doesn't seem to be. I don't know who you bought from so asked. Politely. I know that Trolls abound here, but i'm not calling you a liar or trying to score cheap points. Just to find the facts as of July 2016.

None of them claim to be the 'XY' boards. Can we assume all chinese boards are copies of the XY or have we drifted into 'what is the cheapest chinese board set'? I searched for XY boards and found them all more expensive than the ones on your list, which may be my confusion.

You need to back down on the persecution complex. I asked a simple question, really not sure why you are getting so arsey about it? OK so ALL cheap ebay boards are XY knock offs? Is that correct. I am just trying to establish FACT not CONJECTURE for people who read this thread and want to buy the boards.

You may become the new Mr Pot given some of your posting history...
