Hi Andrew et al.,
I'm currently trying to source components and wanted to make sure that I can order BUK7880-55A instead of BUK78150-55A. To me it looks ok as the new one can do more than the recommended one but as we are talking about PSU, I don't want to take any risks 🙂
Same question with the relays, I plan to order Omron G6J-2P-Y-DC12 or Panasonic AGN26012 as Panasonic AGN20012 recommended ones are not easily sourceable for now.
Many thanks.

Hello Raph, the mosfet is not critical - it’s just driving the relays. It must be a standard gate voltage level (so gate turn on is typ 3-4V vs logic level (2-3V) I will post ups one alternatives a little later.
I have not used the Omron relays - only the Panasonic AGN types. Are they 100% compatible? I’ll take a look a bit later at that and feedback.
(Remote control FP ordered from Modushop BTW!)

Thanks for taking a look Andrew. The Omron looks 100% compatible to me but I'm not expert as you know 😉 The only thing which seems to deviate a bit is the coil R (976.8ohms instead of 1.028kOhms), it should not be a problem at all. The form factor looks exactly the same and the pinout seems to be ok too.
(Congrats for the Modushop partnership 😉.
I'll contact you privately soon to order boards. Have a nice day.

New front plate with the IR window for the remote control upgrade for the X-Altra Mini II arrived today. Assembly and testing over the next few days!
The X-Altra Mini II Apple TV remote controller is now working and debugged. I have a few more tests to do a bit later today, after which I will post up a short video. very nice to sit in my 'listening chair' and use a remote!
🙂
🙂
I see you have the remote portion on your web site on a PayPal button but I think I will order the rest of the components to build a complete preamp should I just email the list to you ( I have several pieces already)? Also I may use the balanced output and one single ended output for biamping will the discrete board and balanced board maintain proper phase? If I do that I may need to adjust the output level on one output how would you recommend it?

Just placed order for the rest of the boards for a complete preamp less the phono section. Time to start on populating the discrete preamp and balanced boards, still waiting on relays and will need more for the source selection board Mouser has been out for a few months now. Will you have a new part number for the case with the window for the remote sensor?
yes - I’ve asked Gianluca to put the remote version option up. I will confirm it in a day or two.
Andrew,
I was going to use my power supply / headphone amp I built last year; I was never able to get the power supply to output 18V all I could get was about 17.5.V. I see you changed the design a little, I did get the new power supply board think the 1/2V is worth building up the new board?

Bill, some folks had this issue. You have to select some resistors. The new board uses pots so it’s very easy to adjust.
I’ll send one FOC in your shipment.

Gorgeous!

If I'm not mistaken, there may be a small error in the current BOM for the PSU:
The BOM "X-Altra-Mini-II-BOM-October-2022 (1) (1)" on the site refers to MSR 532-532702B02500G but the footprint refers to 532-529802B025G or 532-529002B025G which should be read as: 532-529802B02500G or 532-529902B02500G
To me, the ref from the BOM would not fit in the footprint used on the latest PSU board.
Thanks,
Raph

For soldering with the hot air gun putting the vias on the components pad make it difficult and I had to revert to the trusty iron method. Mouser was out of bd139s when I ordered my parts. Purchased a batch of bd139/140 does it help to match these?
thanks
