I have tried a lot of drivers and horns, Vitavox is wonderful for classical music and is a head above any other. I havent tried TAD 4001, but I had TAD 2001 and I hated them, given I only listened to them on round tactrix horns.
I never liked JBL or Altec that much, but I think I never was able to get a good charged pair of 375s. Beyma and 18sound are very good too. I like them better than TAD in round tactrix horns.
Vitavox are still bieng made and you can buy a brand new pair, you wont regret it. Follow Romys advice...
What horn /cross frequency did you use with 2001 and what specific problem you had with this driver?
Rgrds, L
A couple of horns, I think they were 500hz and 600hz, the idea was to cross them at 800hz or higher. The highs were hissy, like coming from a whizzer, they get congested with complicated music: Round tactrix horns....
Hey, If someone sells a pair of working S2 drivers under 2k I am all in!

I'm using TAD 2001 with a 350Hz round tratrix horn and I'm as happy as can be. I also have a JBL 2441 with 300Hz round tratrix horn. The bottom on JBL is certainly fuller.

Are you sure they are 350hz? They look more like 500-550 to me . Whats the mouth diameter?
