The 5-6-inch woofer is paired with a Transmission Line Speakers cabinet, and the bass effect is excellent.
The Rs225 is a great driver but its no sub, runs out of xmax quickly it excels at mid bass.
It maybe fine for near field listening as a sub.
Just happen to have one here in a 16ltr sealed box and UM8-22 in 22ltr sealed box both connected to the same amp(Old 90's Sony HT amp)even though the 225 has much higher sensitivity the UM is more Authoritative doing sweeps(breaking them in for testing).
I had these too go in a car along with some Rs100p and ND25WG, plans change now Im stupidly contemplating building a 4way, subs active 3way passive or 4way active (Dayton 408)

The problem is that I do need a woofer to cover everything to a lower midrange and not sure how good a true sub would be on that duty. TC9FD18 has little to no bass and I need to cross it a little higher, over 200 Hz. I had an idea to apply a 4th order filter to a woofer and a 2nd order to a fullrange on the same frequency as Fc of the fullrange to get the 4-th order acoustically, but the phase tracking isn't perfect, probably bad idea overall, so I need to cross it higher after all.
What was your reasoning for 16 Liters? RS225 needs 18 L for Qtc of 0.7 according to VituixCAD. Are you densely filling your enclosure?

What is your budget?
Those TC9FD18 are absolutely great full-range speakers.
I am reading that you will make this an active speaker design.
I don't exactly know how loud you want to play, but given that you're on the European continent.
If it really needs to stay small, maybe something like a back-to-back impuls corrected idea would work.
Either closed or BR (depending on the size of the cabinet).
Could be in the same enclosure as the TC9FD18.
This could be with something like a duals Omnes Audio SW5.01

Great little woofer, quite decent performance actually:

Ideally I would suggest the SW6.01, since it's barely bigger, but unfortunately out of stock atm.
Crossing around 150-250Hz will be fine with the TC9FD18.
Otherwise you could just go for some small 8 inch closed subs. Around 8-10 liter should be enough.
If you position them symmetrically, you can cross them much higher (around 200-300Hz).
Again, depending on your budget, but I think you can't beat the STX W.20.300.2x2.MC or W.20.300.2x4.MC
(especially on that side of Europe)
Otherwise you can have a look at Omnes Audio again or Reckhorn

Btw, in an active filter design, these TC9FD18 only need 1 liter, the rest can be compensated.

Yeah. One of the lowest distortion drivers in the class while staying extremely flat. Even Scan-Speak 10F measures worse. It's a joy to listen to them even without any low-end, heh. Those TC9FD18 are absolutely great full-range speakers.
Budget is around 200 bucks for the drivers, but if they are really that good, I'm open for propositions.
Distortions are on the high side but pretty interesting.Omnes Audio SW5.01
Dunno, compact box was an initial wish, but I've rearranged my space and I guess I'm ready to fit two ~20L boxes. A lot of 5 to 6.5 drivers give me a headache already: either they require the same 20 L box for bass reflex, or the port that won't physically fit, or something else.
I've been thinking lately about building closed box RS225-8's with TC9FD18's, measuring/listening to them, and if the low-end will be lacking to my taste - getting later a cheap a*s 10 or 12 inches sub to put under the desk in a sealed ~30 L enclosure and go full Linkwitz Transform on it down to the 20s.
@sArj
Keep in mind that with an active filter (Linkwitz Transform), you can make the volume a lot smaller.
As a rule of thumb I use a factor 0.046 with the Sd.
Which gives in most cases a good compromise for also the power that is needed.
For a 10 inch that is about 15 liters, 8 inch is about 10 liter, 6.5 inch is about 6.4liters etc etc
If the budget is around 200 bucks, I would rather suggest those Dayton E150HE or E180HE if it needs to be very compact.
Or a double 6.5 inch is also nice.
If a little bigger/wider either go for 8 inch or 10inch.
Redcatt SW10 are great, they are even a little better than Peerless XLS10
https://oaudio.de/Subwoofer_1
Otherwise again Reckhorn or GRS 10SW-4HE if you want a lof of bang for your buck.
If it was up to me, I would rather have a nice DSP + mutli-subwoofer setup with some cheaper subswoofers, instead of one more expensive woofer.
