This is quite remarkable and VERY helpful!!!
If I could trouble you for some more interior shots I'm sure I can get mine back to it's stock configuration.
I'm curious if you have any schematics as well. If not, no worries. Photos are worth 10000 words!

Yes, that’s the plan! Today I removed the 1000 uF of capacitance and will look for a dual section capacitor like the other 3. LCR doesn’t make them any more. It’s a 50uF + 50uF @ 500VDC. Any leads on one or does anyone have one in their tickle trunk?

I have high confidence in the Mundorf to withstand the B+ and any surges, but the MA is probably fine also.
Let me get out my calipers. Stay tuned.First, will both of them fit properly? Their form factors differ.
Mock up a model with paper and see how it fits, in both diameter and height.
Others have made similar mistakes, but we won't say who.

This is so helpful! I need to see where the wires are attached to this capacitor in the yellow circle. Are you able to take a photo of the end of this particular capacitor? Many thanks! They didn't give me any schematics.
I am attaching 3 more photos, but if you enlarge the one I posted before I think it is of better quality.

35 mm diameter. The MA is that diameter and was $22 including shipping so I went with it. The length will be fine as there's lots of room.First, will both of them fit properly? Their form factors differ.

These photos are exactly what I need in order to begin to wire the amplifier as it was originally designed, at least in this initial and most obvious problem area. I doubt if I could do it myself without your help. Thank you! There are two more areas that don't appear original, but they may not pose a problem with its operation. I'll first start with this area for which I've ordered a new 2 section capacitor and see if that solves the problem of blowing fuses. Fingers crossed. I'm still amazed at my good fortune to not only find one of a handful of identical amplifiers ever made, (and literally one serial number away) but also someone who will generously share such detailed information with me. Thanks again!Sorry. I didn't see the message. I sent the photos. I hope they are of help to you.
Well, the 2 segment cap FINALLY arrived and I installed it per the photos I had from ITube VLC. You can see it in the attached photos. Without the output tubes I'm at full voltage on the Variac, with a small light bulb in the circuit. I'll install the output tubes and bring it up slowly again measuring for 70mV at the test points. Here goes nothing ..

Son of a gun, it works! I'll get it buttoned up and give it a good listen later today. I guess the other modifications, seen here in these 2 photos, were not part of the problem although the big Jensen paper in oil caps bug me a bit, siliconed in as they are, but they likely improve the sound quality. Thoughts? Thanks to all!
