Wobbly CD Transport Output

Hi All,

I have had a search but had no joy. Does anyone recognise these symptoms?

Audible background fluttering sound to the music playing, the more complicated or louder the music becomes, the more muddled the sound.

Would you think this is a transport problem, or something a little less expensive?? Perhaps it is a jitter caused by the clock synch input from the separate DAC (like a clock mismatch)?

Any pointers will be welcome.

All the best

Either you use the digital out and the coax isn't properly attached (or runs too close to some mains wires - interference) or the puck is no longer balanced. Also you're digital in could be a bit to sensative to the signal strength it receives. Just some thoughts.

Thanks very much.....

that's definitely something to go on.

I was also wondering if a transport motor can waver (ie hunt around the required rpm) and create a wow like an old record player.

A new transport is going to be about 70 GBP.

All the best

Jon
