It could well be that you are just trying to do things the hard way… something i have often seen with Windows users on a Mac. For myself, Windows seems to be at least 3 cliks when one would do.
There is one operation -- saving a file -- that takes 6 or 7 cliks in XP, when it would take one on the Mac. I find Windows very awkward & unintuitive -- clunky.

I dunno how you're supposed to chose where you want the file saved etc with one click...which is all the additional clicks are usually for.
Not the one i'm using. And if you change the name of the file you are working on Windows gets completely lost.

I use both W7 at work, and iOS on mobiles, and Mavericks on desktop, and honestly find the biggest problems ensue when you try to second guess or outthink whatever OS you're on
That said I do find the Apple far more user friendly - good thing I'm not enough of an expert to know why I might be wrong.

what kind of laptop ? how much ram ? what cpu ? Did you do fresh install or upgrade ?
Yeah, its doing updates. No way of changing it either, which really really annoys me.
My girlfriend keeps her laptop in a laptop bag, and can come down some mornings to find it rebooted at 3am and has been cooking for 5 hours or longer, with all the vents blocked.

Sounds like she put it to sleep / closed the lid. Didn't shut down the machine before putting it into the bag.
And my Acer Aspire 7745G goes into sleep mode if I don´t move the mouse..

install the mouse driver from manufactures site. If windows 10 turn off the battery saver feature

It used to be quite good.
I like the email notifier for when I am busy with something else.
