Wide dispersion, quality tweeter

I'm looking for a sweet sounding tweeter under 50 to 60 bucks a pair that has wide dispersion but doesn't sacrifice quality.

I suppose it's because I've been goofing around with some cheap horns I have but I've come to like the spread-out sound more compared to the "highly directional" Vifas I've used in the past.

Never have heard a ribbon tweeter (Beston?), and what's the deal with these Neodynium (sp) tweeters? -- just looking at their construction, seems I should look at these as well. What about the HiVi stuff?

Can't really use a horn because I don't have the depth in my enclosures.

Also, something in a mid/tweeter would suit my situation ideally.

ive had a good experience with founteks' neoCD3.5H WG/Hornloaded ribbon used 3rd order or higher @ 3khz, or 2nd order @ 5khz.

Its wide horizontal pattern and narrow vertical pattern may work for you. Somewhere between the horns you had, and wide dispersion you seek. At 35 euro its also within your budget.

The price is a bit to high but good dispersion and not extreme expensive.

the Fountek I have are great for the midrange price. They are only a 10mm 3/8" ribbon. Strangely in the datasheet 'dynanvox' is the maker.

There is certainly merit in dome tweeters and the HiQuPhon (of which im oblivious to) are certainly worth a look too.

I find i like both domes and ribbons. A dome like Helmuth linked could be crossed low order, maybe even 1st (or damped LC)

Something that has wide dispersion even at higher freq.s, mid-range usability, and is otherwise objectively *good*: doesn't exist.

Limit the mid-range use and there are few choices..

Still, if you want all 3 then I'd recommend:

I'm thinking about using a waveguide to uniform the overall dispersion.

Anyway, i didn't find any good priced tweeter plus waveguide combos. Audax tw034 plus jantzen waveguide are high priced for my tastes.

I understood a waveguide can decrease the lower lpf crossover point.

You said that 1.8KHz are good withOUT a waveguide.

Now i didn't understand anymore...

I would like to match dispersion between 8" full-range, crossover point maybe at 1.8KHz, and a tweeter plus 8" waveguide.

Maybe a bit OT here.

Here is one that you might consider.
It is a 3/4" dome that can be crossed above 3500 hz.
Inexpensive in US, but don't know about shipping international.

Thank you for your suggestion.

In the meantime i changed a bit my mind, as you can see from the previous post.

I better understood dispersion behaviour, and would like to go lower in the crossover point with the use of a large tweeter waveguide.
