You can take a look at the CD6000 service manual here:
http://sharksystems.narod.ru/marantz.html
I checked it and I think my hacker won't work with this player...
The good news is it doesn't need it because the oversampling is done by SM8572 (let's hope it does a better job than SAA7378).

Hi, I'm very interested in this topic. I own Marantz CD5000 (Philips 753 clone) which uses the same decoder/controller SAA7378.
Unfortunately link with full hack does not work: http://www.ifrance.com/robinetron/cd723/hack/hack_e.html
I've got translation cd723.zip ant there is an article but without any images (schematics!).
Would you like to post somewhere full article with SAA738 bit accuracy hack?

OK, I found it at another location during further research. Here it is: http://benjamin.silvestre.club.fr/cd723/hack/hack_e.html
Hi to all,
for people like me, who cannot hack the CD723/SAA7378:
What are the the alternatives i.e. a cheap, bit accurate CD-Player with
the VAM 1201 mechanism? The VAMS are flimsy but replacements are cheap.
Would like to build one player with a VAM 1201and a Parasound D/AC 1500 DAC board, which is left over...
All the best, Sal

Well, I do not want to spend 2,250 on a transport but buy a used, cheap player , which uses the VAM 120X transport and is bit accurate.
Tray and cbinet will be designed by myself.

This is what I thought...
But is there an equivalent from Philips, which uses the CDM12 mechanism?
The 63 sell up to 200 Euros at ebay, which is lot for aiming at the mechanism
+ control circuitry only...

Why do you want a CDM12?
There are others, many argue better. CDM4 or CDM9 for example.
Is a Philips CD920 CDM12? I can't remember. if the CD tray is to the left and not in the center, in the later 900 series, then I suspect its a 12.

Help with Philips CD 723 and Marantz CD 5000
Hi guys!
After many years I am opening again this issue.
I have bought Philips CD 723 really cheap to replace dead Marantz CD-40 from my second system used in working room. I found it a bit rough sounding and had idea to modify it, but many people said it is not good for modifying.
Today I received e-mail with offer to buy used Marantz CD 5000 which is in great condition. Are they both using same DA converter or not??? According to the photos from the Net they look almost the same inside.
I would be grateful for all suggestions and any data about modifying.

Hi Mariolino, I think the internals of these players are identical. Got this info from the old Lampizator site:
PhilipsCD753
Actually, this is what inspired me to buy the Cambridge Audio Dacmagic! 😉

Hello.
I would like to modify my CD 723 but I would like to have it done by someone who does it for a fee by sending the motherboard of the CD.
i tried to contact robinet but i can't.
is there any of you who do it?

Isn't that CD 723 just about 30 years old? Let it retire in dignity by using its last remaining hours as a transport by putting a DAC on it!
You should congratulate yourself for preserving it this far, but remember the sentiment at the time of purchase: that any decent DAC would cost over $500 while modding might be half that. Now, welcome to 2022 where you can get a top notch California-made DAC (Schiit Modi) for about $100.
