LM 3886 explosion
I've managed to do a lot of bad things to a 3886 without having them blow up. I like all of the built in protections. When I designed the PRS amp, I figured that the common practice of using phone jacks to connect speakers was an accident just ready to happen. Consequently the output stage was designed to be driven fully into a dead short. It took 4 large Mosfets to do than because fold back current limiting was not an option. (Fold back current limiting presents a negative impedance and with an inductor that can spell oscillations - which it occasionally did)
