One film that does give me hope,
The film is "the thing" I love the way Mary Winstead talks.
And the interaction with Norwegians just great. Shame the interaction is just fiction in a film.

M. Gregg

I think about 5-10% and that's pushing it.
I think people that speak foreign language are more likely to try and emulate the Queens English because that is text book style.
I have only ever met a few that speak like James Bond and a few news readers women that are very articulate with language (however its there job to be).
I know a lot of people that speak differently to do their jobs and then change when at home or relaxing. ie its not natural English.

I think you are right ...

nice anyway.
I do not mean that English should speak in a way to please the listeners.
But it happens that the Queens English is also very very clear, improving in this way the quality of communication in a multicultural context.
It is very good for export i mean.
The fact that as you say foreing people make a huge effort to try and emulate the Queens English because that is text book style shows their respect and need to communicate effectively.
Someone goes even the extra mile ...

not in the morning.
Well in Italy in the morning " cornetto and cappuccino " are the standard ...

this is the very italian breakfast ... or espresso macchiato ... 😀
You only have to look at DIY audio,
Look how effective it is at bringing people of different cultures together.
Just think what would happen if every school in the world suddenly taught two languages and you had to pass exams in both.
The two languages could be English and your cultural language.
Everyone would be able to communicate in two generations.
The whole world..

I like to see Putin or any politician with children, the kids don't stick to script all the time. Angela M speaking English in Moscow https://youtu.be/ZW8TkGfIjCg
news readers women that are very articulate with language
Moira Stuart, beats viagra.
how is the Nigerian accent ?

In the meantime i found this ...

The trend is set and can be accelerated only by English people spreading their language around the world
Just think when you meet a foreigner to talk to a retarded old person ... talk slowly and clearer. You will win them
I know your attitude and i understand how hard is for you ... but please. We want to learn.
To understand what the f...k are you saying ...
Especially our Prime Minister is so eager to learn English ...

Chinese language has no chance outside China
The evidence is in the number of people taking Chinese language lesson outside China
Chinese language can be only imposed with violence ... 😉
http://digitalcommons.macalester.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1447&context=macintl
... Some 380 million people speak it as their first language and perhaps two-thirds as many again as their second.
A billion are learning it, about a third of the world’s population are in some sense exposed to it and
by 2050, it is predicted, half the world will be more or less proficient in it....

certain newsreaders speak very good english.
others not so good.
the funniest english,I think,
is when actors try to speak with a "false" accent.
especially english actors.

I think it would be just a waste of energy the translation ...
Most of the time the reference books are in English ... so i do not see the reason to translate them at all.
At the beginning could be hard for some ... but i have a relative who went to Australia when he was around 20 knowing only his region dialect.
Now after many years is back and teaches English privately to rich people in his town ... from dialect to English without passing through Italian.
Chinese cannot be a serious competitor ... almost no one speaks chinese if we do not count chinese.
For instance international business schools already have accepted the idea.
An MBA that is not in English is not international.
Only one common language is so much easier, so much efficient.
They should stop the translation services
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_the_European_Union
... According to the EU's English-language website,[12] the cost of maintaining the institutions’ policy of multilingualism—i.e., the cost of translation and interpretation—was €1,123 million in 2005, ...
also because, in the end, there must be an official language.
Usually when there is contract the reference version is one in a specific language in case of dispute.
So a unique language is really needed to solve problems.
