My GF very much appreciates good sound and can tell the difference between music formats and how various gear sounds. She did require a bit of guidance to put the things she's hearing into words so she could describe the experiences to others in a meaningful way.
Now as far as electronics side of things go that's not really something she would be doing, lack of skill and knowledge being the primary reasons. Soldering iron can be dangerous too 😛

skedaddle out of there
I moonlighted in the (confectionery) fashion show business on a few occasions, dresser job, including the catwalk in Paris.
Seen loads of sweaty you know what's on zero cup size up real close as they skedaddled in and out.
Whoever stated that sort of thing habituates was wrong, it's by far the hardest way to make an extra buck.

Hi Jacco
somehow I knew you would be one to appreciate that word.
This is an interesting thread.

Forbes Welcome
I think it has something to do with being fearful to make mistakes and get involved in messy situations. Must have an evolutionary utility to keep the home clean.

Yes, this has been my assumption as well. It's a choice. Just like how I generally avoid nearly all popular music and/or music that those in my social life would listen to, because I am bound to hear it anyway there is no need to keep it in the confinements of the home. So when I must listen to popular things it can be appreciated, and not just "noise".
Better to spend time on something that can fill the gaps other people might have, so that as a people or community we can cover a wider field of knowledge and skill.
So in sum: I lack both knowledge and skill... But make up for it with blissful ignorance 🙂

Most likely made up of people who couldn't be bothered to choose.
Do not misunderstand "big expensive horrible sounding stuff" or - sometimes - "diy" and "audiophile"-!!!
Of 100 % male are 2 % audiophile,-!

Fairly new to the DIY forums so i have been reading through lots of past threads . I use/post on many forums about a huge range of subjects and interests but one thing that is consistent with each and every one... theres always someone attempting to find a date lol ( as evidenced further back in this thread )
As for women audiophiles i think there are a lot more than we think, i 've even created a few 🙂 ,I 've been watching a lot of the Rocky Mountain Audio Festival presentations on You Tube recently ( the director of which is a lady incidentally ) and there are plenty to be seen including one that uses the F word a lot during her presentation 🙂
Reality is yes there are lots of women audiophiles they just don't obsess over it like us guys.
