Hi, I heard a pair of this several years ago in a speaker called a Buckingham but cant recall the actual comany who makes them. This is a photo from an old brochure. They were over $5000 and might be a good canidate for a diy project. Thanks for the help.

but what driver is that?
Thanks for the link. I checked the site and that is a discontinued speaker. Although it sounds very nice, I dont think it was a value at $6500. Im still interested in identifying the co-axial driver thats used.

It somehow reminds me from the Altec drivers that were used in the old Urei Studio monitors.

Altec 604
Afaik, the earlier buckinghams used the Altec 604 but the designer switched to the PAS drivers later. See the AA post below.

Galante's newer models uses Radian units.

That AA link provided a wealth of info- thanks. I found a few other coaxs that I never heard of. B&C for one, looks like an extremely well made Italian driver and PAS, which does look like the Buckingham(Altec)driver is located in California and judging from their lit/specs, also produce really high quality stuff.

PAS speakers with Renkus Heinz drivers, custom Altec 620 inspired cabinets, and crossovers from the late Rick Craig.
Those are Professional Audio Systems 15" coax driver. It has a one inch compression driver mount. Renkus 1" you say? The JBL 2425 sounds better on this speaker. What really makes this combo sing is an active xover and biamp it. Though many were sold with passive crossovers which do fail over time. If you change the compression driver keep in mind that the delay will also need to be changed. If memory serves me, 150 micro-seconds for Renkus, 300 micro-seconds for JBL 2425. And don't forget polarity, JBL is reversed. The 3" voice coils are rated at 200 watts. But 400 watts sound so good. I think the 1W1M is 98 DB. When set up properly there aren't many speakers that sound better. 10 degrees in phase from 100hz to 10khz. Depth of field is impressive.
