While they last...

Has anyone heard the Tokins in a similar topology to the Sony VFETs? I'm curious if they have a different tone and still maintain that "magic" VFET characteristic like the Sony's.

I imagine they still have that triode-like quality. It'll be fun to hear impressions on all the new, upcoming kits. 🙂

I have heard Sony and Tokin in the exactly same circuit except voltage and current are larger with Tokin. In my impression, they share the same quality, not something like the difference between 845 vs 300B, but the distortion figure can be more different depends on the load line, so one wants to find the sweet spot at first. The load line should have much more impact than which SIT is used. A good thing about Tokin is we can use it at much higher voltage and current.

You can compare the two circuits - look at the one in the article, and this
one from BAF 2017:

My used matched THF-51N from Pras have arrived. Has anyone already figured out how to adapt the SissySIT circuit for them?

It is written several times already that SissySIT R.3 is already finished in prototype shape, made exactly with goal of using SIT with any Ugs value

As writing this, I'm in a middle of populating pcbs ..... in fact they're populated but I'm short for few power resistors and will get them as soon I remember to order them

so , you can expect funny pics of my Mighty Extrafamous T-Bed in several days, along with wigglygiggly graphs

Mighty ZM -
This is really great news and thanks for the pics. Hope the testing goes well and is smoke free. I will be following your work with great interest, and with much less understanding.
Nelson has also hinted that after the Sony V-Fever has subsided he'll release a project that can accommodate SITs of varying specifications.
So, we lucky few will have lots of options for unequaled fun.

bummer, forgot to post these, too

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting the pictures as I was just joking, but not being one to look gift horses in the mouth... wow, nice pictures.

They do say a picture is worth a thousand words (but then, just who are "THEY"?).

And more importantly, what can you tell us about the SissySIT R3?

(still kidding! They are great pictures though... and thank you for keeping us informed.)
