Just got these in the mail today from Mr. Frank. Aluminum Oxide pads -- looks like the fit is great.
Looking good I need these, where can I buy them? Who’s Mr. Frank?

You'll find it on Canuck Audio Mart if you search for Tokin. Not sure how many are left since mine are already from the leftovers pile.
who would say that, Pa becoming modern Influencer
that's just a half step from being a Hipster
I'm gonna check for his profile on Insta and Snap and FB

Somehow I just can't see Nelson smashing an AVO. He has far too much respect for old electronics.
Me too!
I bought it just in case I win Codyt's raffle 😉

Insulator/Thermal pad for Tokin 2SK180, 2SK182, THF-51S V-FET For Sale - Canuck Audio Mart
I just inquired to buy a pair.
I received a response from Frank a couple of days ago. He had to reorder and expects inventory soon. Price went up though. Not too bad considering the service he's providing. Thank goodness those Canadians are so darned nice! 😀

codyt is doing a raffle..? What is being raffled away?

Ahh, nice! I already have a pair of each Tokins (in order to provide options when I upgrade my speakers), so I'm glad they went to someone who needs a pair! I imagine you're really enjoying your Singing Bush -- probably one of the best power amps you could really build, I'd imagine. : )

Seems it does not work outside the US/Canada, any advice?

Thermal paste with Aluminum Oxide pads
Hello all...
I too am slowly collecting parts for the eventual release of a THF-51S build.
Also I have secured a set of the above mentioned Aluminum Oxide pads....Thank You Frank.
Question on thermal paste and apologies if it has been covered and I missed it in the multiple vfet threads.
1 . Is the consensus to use thermal paste with the Aluminum Oxide (Alumina) pads? If so what brand are we leaning towards ?
2. I have a number of Aluminum to Aluminum joints to transfer heat through. The highly thermal conductive metal based compounds generally list Aluminum as a no go due to corrosion. I noted the Vfet kit came with a tube of compound to join OS bracket to the heatsink...is there info on what brand was supplied or a suggestion on what brand to use on this type of junction.
Thank You All

Thermal pads which cannot be deformed need apply thermal paste to fill the gap between part and pad, between pad and heatsink, as the surfaces cannot be perfectly flat; therefore need thermal paste - better heat conductivity than air.
Aluminum Oxide is not aluminum, plus the pad's material is Aluminum Oxide Ceramic, basically Aluminum Oxide powers and some other materials blended together and then form the pads.
The pad is anti-corrosion, well, I think no worse than rubber ones, and more durable than rubber pads. Plus normal thermal grease is not corrosive given commonly applied on metal surfaces such as CPU, read their datasheet.
I would "worry" about the conductivity of thermal compound, as some might be conductive and should be avoided.
Thank You Vodomore
I have no experience with the Alumina pads...but want to go the extra mile on this project.
Makes sense , Ill seek out some Non Conductive thermal paste... Thanks For the heads up on this.
Part 2 of this is a different animal..(1/2" Aluminum Chanel to a number of premade Aluminum Heatsinks, with no need for electrical isolation).
I get the feeling that this may be the wrong forum for this...my apologies.
