While they last...

I do not trace all those cuves at once. Those curves are merged together in Gimp, a free photo editing software.

Then I will go back an mesure if this is some gate leakage. It’s a little bit deceiving when I think about the price paid for this Sit. I feel like Forest Gump and his chocolate box, you never know what you will stumble upon. 🙄

No, don't misunderstand. My point is, don't panic. Your SIT is probably just fine, it may just have little more leakage than the other. Try driving the step voltage with a bench supply, or scale the resistances in my little gate circuit down by 10 or 20 times and see if you get something more like what you're expecting.

Variances in leakage are to be expected in these big parts, and they can be accommodated. Nelson is sure to have accounted for driving these with a low impedance source. 🙂

All will be Zen.

Oh don’t worry I’m always zen 😉

The first reason why I built the frankentracer was for fun, I’m a newbie at all this and I like to experiment and build stuff. I was planning to build L’Amp with those 2sk182es but now I’m waiting to see what will be the offer by mr Pass before deciding. 😀

Thank you for your answers greatly appreciated.

The issue in post 478 is similar to what I am seeing. There are some variations in transconductance and the curve on the right has low gain with the one next to it having extra high.

No reason to get excited, but adjustments for this will sometimes be necessary. I am currently evaluating consistency within lot codes, but I had my second shot yesterday...

Hoping to get in on the DIYAudio VFET kits. I have VFets from Sony, and Tokin, I’m sure I’ll get some VFET amp running this year. I do love my M2x amps though.

The DIYAudio VFet amps are 10w at 8ohm. Where do the Tokin VFET amps fall?
