No, I don't really contradict myself.
I want 100 wpc to drive the 1.7.
But I don't want it from a brute force amp. OK, I'm moving to the XA252 mosfet clone. But that's a clone of a special PL amp, IMHO. Again a rare bird.
Look at the F5Tv3.... an example of how a FW amp can grow. Of running the F4 in bridged mode... another example. Look at the growth in power of the SIT line. ZM did put out a 35wpc 252SIT... A 100wpc SIT would be awesome (OK I did have the XA252SIT... long story on that).
BTW, my wife used to work for a major auto manufacturer. In '93 we had a very rare model, only three existed in the whole of North America with the stick shift. Years later we had a Fit Sport with an MT ( still have it )... it was only available in NA for six months,,, very few got sold. We got one. We had a Prelude SH... rare too. Then we had a Clarity Hydrogen Fuel Cell EV, that was strange, only a very few, only in California. We also had an Accord 6-6 coupe... rare as they come! Had to wait five months for the production line to build it. We've had a collection of Civic Si, a GSR and Type S.... all of them were ordered directly from the factory, with parts that my wife was ordering for the factory. It tooks months to get our cars built because of the strange combinations she was ordering.
Story of my life. I like strange things. I'm not into off the shelf things. I'm patient, I can wait. It's a hobby... audio and cars.
If I wanted a commercial, off the shelf PL design, I would have bought a pair of XA60.8 by now and I'd be done in my quixotic crusade.
Most likely I would have bought a Nak PA7 Mk I and an ARC VT100 MkIII.
Heck, I even owned an Alfa Romeo once upon a time.
And right now I got the bridged F4 on the Maggies. Amazing sound.

I know nothing compared to you guys, but I have a hunch.. isn't it true that the more powerful the output device (or parallel devices), the less hi-fi it's capable of. More dissipation - bigger capacitance and less HF definition? Generally. Isn't that the case? Perhaps there's even that case to be made about bridging.
And if it IS (generally) the case, then this falls a bit outside of the scope of the discussion. Although I guess we're already discussing male/female dynamics, loving room and listening room arrangements, wives and their say in all this. Foxes.. I don't know if this is some sort of insider thing I'm not privy to or you're literally discussing foxes. I've got some foxes here too, quite a lot. But we don't feed them. I just do my best not to drive over them, which so far has worked well. They seem a bit smarter than deer in that respect... Be careful on the roads y'all, especially during/after dusk 🙏🏻

There's a wide range of needs and taste, and endless opportunities to address them.
That's one of the reasons I am never bored.

Oh, and I am literally talking about foxes, although there is the occasional wink, wink, nudge, nudge...

I hope that we're going back and forth in our typical fun manner, and that's in jest. Just in case, I was just poking at ya. If I took it a tad far, my apologies. I was trying to convey my attempt at dry humor with the little devil and the smileys.Ay, you hurt me. 😢😢 Of all the things you could have said...
I think you know that any level of involvement in DIY is absolutely groovy with me. Mainly, and most importantly, please keep up the fun posts. If my meaning was misconstrued, my apologies. I hope that SIT amp finds its way into your room at some point; it would seriously be a cool (OK probably hot) project.
It's all entertainment folks!

Yep.
At some point, if we ever see the Biggvs Dickvs SIT OP with the Incontinentia FE and the Lead Buttocks Balanced Pre... for an astounding 100 metric cubits per forthnight (*), I might have to stop the Holy Search and listen to music.
But then, I'll get a pair of 99 db/w speakers and will start the search for a 5 wpc Zenductor SIT.
Anyhow, at the end of the day, I pop a Lagunitas IPA, go outside, light up a cigar and think and solve the problems of the World... in quiet and silence.
🍺
(*) I wonder how the Romans measured power. I mean, mechanical power is one thing... water wheels, solar heating, wind sails... but how about stuff like candle light? Fire for heating? Cooking temperatures? How many lyre for a performance?

No apologies required, I got pretty thick skin... it keeps me youthful. Although I noted some wrinkles around the eyes.... (*)
I love playing the victim.... I was a Thespian in High School. Mostly, I engineered the props. Lots of cool props during my tenure.
By Neptune, You Have Hurt Me. What will I do now Brutus?
Do I get an Oscar for my performance?
Come to think about it.... would a 5 wpc SIT make sense? Most triode tubes are low(er) powered. Would the B1K be too sweet for a SIT amp? I've driven a tube preamp with the Sissy SIT (10wpc) and it sounds really good, if not very loud with my speakers. I have to say I have not tried it with the Metronomes I got at BAF24. I did try the DIY VFET into those and I prefer the F5 and F4 with those...
(*) Time to visit that Armenian plastic surgeon in Glendale?

^ Much appreciated. My "netiquette" is awful. When I intend to convey lighthearted fun with friends, I can see how it may be construed as the opposite on occasion. We just need to catch up at BAF... then you'll know I'm NEVER serious.
re: school - I'd have likely been booed off the stage if I'd have attempted anything of the sort (even from behind the scenes).

My "netiquette" is awful.
do not worry
mine is, by default, by intention and as virtue

Hi juanitox
Apologies for the off-topic post.
Kindest regards,

Could you please share any detail about your enclosure for the TAD1601? Perhaps via p.m. so that we do not pollute this thread?depends of how many watts you want but 100 to 600hz is not the hardest part to reproduce , i like the F7 more than the SIT4 or my M2 for this task with my TAD1601 but it is not the most difficult charge for a amp can't say for other speakers ..
Apologies for the off-topic post.
Kindest regards,
M
