Which digital 4-way crossover for high class 4-way monitors?

Guys this endless battling over the same topic again and again is getting very tiresome!

Instead here's my recommendation for the OP:

  • If your music is in digital form already, use a silent small PC or notebook as player. Anything less than 5 years old will have plenty power to also do the necessary DSP on it. 64bit is nice to have, but IMHO not really necessary.
  • setup an environment with camilladsp on it, there's a good thread on it here, the author of camilladsp is very helpful.
  • after you have decided on your PC/notebook and know the budget for it, choose a 8 channel USB DAC that fits your remaining budget which should be ~1300 bucks.
PS: skipping one DAC/ADC step in the chain and staying in the digital domain IS far better. Possibly sound-quality wise, up to everybody's taste. But what's undeniable: It's cheaper because less equipment necessary 😉
