Since I started to play with RMAA I can see a clear difference between monolithic opamps and hombrewed discrete amps. The monolithic ones are dominated by third harmonics, and all my discrete amps are dominated by second harmonics and some of them actually has lower third than the soundcard looped without load.
Maybe this is why I prefer the discrete amps. Still, the harmonic content doesn't say it all, but I can see there's a point to this.
