‘Echo in the Canyon’
Documentary on Netflix with Jakob Dylan about beginnings of the California sound , the Byrds,Beach boys, Buffalo Springfield, mamas and the papas....etc.
Very well put together
Thanks for the recommendation.
I watched it last night and it took me back to when my family lived in California in 63/65. I got my first transistor radio when we moved there and as a teenager I was enthralled with the music.
In particular I remember the "Sloop John B" and "Wouldn't it be nice" got a lot of air time.
Funny thing was when we moved from Lompoc to Columbia SC the summer of 65, the music getting air time there was about 8 months behind what was playing on the west coast.
Wow that must have been some culture shock Cali to SC
My moms side of the family were ‘hippies’ and although I grew up redneck I still kept the balance!

Speaking of Cali in the early 1960's -- I saw "The Endless Summer" for the umpteenth time just a week or so ago.
Re-watched Arrival for the umpteenth time recently, but ....
I'm a Sci-Fi / Fantasy hog, but definitely enjoy the lighter side of movies - Amelie (Fr) being a favourite.

"Radio Free Albamuth" from 2010. Follows Philip Dick's novel about Ameriaca's fall to facism... and extra terrestrials trying to stop it.
Framing Delorean - almost a documentary with an interesting take on breaking the fourth wall. Son Zach’s profanity and in the end very philosophical outlook was the biggest surprise.
If it wasn’t for the sleazy deal with Colin Chapman - $17M was a lotta dough in the early 80’s - the coke entrapment deal might never have happened.

Watched The Return of the Pink Panther for the first time in a long time. Peter Sellers at his side-splitting best.
6 Underground on Netflix last night. You could tell it was a Michael Bay movie. I kept commenting to the wife how I was seeing Transformers type explosions. She started noticing the Transformers type sounds.
I watched the trailer for that last night, looked like a decent action flick.
Might watch it tonight if I can talk the boss into it !

Does Michael even need a scriptwriter? “OK kids, it’s been at least two minutes, so let’s blow something up big time, and get a close up high-beam / down blouse shot of our female protagonist”
Watched it last night......it was actually better than I thought it was going to be.
A bit over the top but well done in believability. Sorta! For what it was anyhow.

Well, as I introduced my wife to Peter Sellers, yesterday we watched The Party. A little politically incorrect for today, but still excellent.
The Art of Racing in the Rain, which was great except for the Hollywood bolt-on saccharine ending which nearly destroys the film. Hopefully there'll be a director's cut that dumps it.
